i think iirc. in the 7 and 8 series E class BMW's. granted it won some kind of international motor award in 99 its a weak, heavy motor. for being a v12 it only puts out about 325hp at 5k. although its got a tourquey 360lb ft mid range, its got nothing for a top end. its kind of like a really big KA

im sorry but if i want 325hp i would get a smaller lighter motor. but thats just me. i mean come on this thing had
2 valves per cylinder! woooooo hoooo!!!! while most of BMWs other engines switched to 4. the only thing im unsure of is the weight but it can be light. figure 2 v6's with sohc heads? meh..id rather rock the S85B50. god i hate how bmw does engine codes

a run down on that engine
-the v10 40valve in bmw's M5 and M6 inspired by BMW formula racing division.
-12.0:1 compression
-8250rpm redline
-5.0 507hp 383lb ft
-VANOS system which varies both intake and exhaust timing

-Individual throttle bodies. 10 of them!!

Knock sensors have been eliminated to utilize the new "ionic current" measuring system. Using the ionic current system, engine misfires as well as knock can be measured simultaneously. Combustion quality raises or lowers cylinder pressure. The ionic current is measured by passing a low voltage between the spark plugs immediately following the ignition spark.

-factory dry sump lubrication system.
4 different international engine of the year awards in multiple categories 3 years in a row.
find me one of these motors and id rock it in an s chassis. im mean if your going to go balls out on a bimmer swap then use the right freakin motor!!!
done.
