Silvia Front End, I did a search
Well I'm a newb to this board. I just picked up my 2nd 240 SX today. I got a 1989 Coupe, and when I lived in Hawaii I had a 1990 Fastback. I am going to be ordering an SR20DET for the coupe this week. I have done a search on the board and found a thread were I guy was getting flamed for asking where to buy the front end conversion. I want to buy on and I see that they cost from $400 to more than $1k. What I would like to know is what is the going rate for the entire front end. What are the differences two projector / three projector, I didn't see them in the FAQ section of the board, and what should I keep in mind when buying one? Thanks in advance.

you can buy one on ebay. or piece it together from people on the boards (what i did). there's actually 3 different types of headlights: Dual Projector // Triple Projector (has fog lights) // Dual Halogens (rock!). there's also a few different bumpers to choose from OEM...silvia K's, Q's...and a ton of aftermarket ones. i spent around 700ish for mine..you just have to shop around. we flamed the other guy because he didnt post it up here first.
things to keep in mind when buying:
shipping is NOT cheap (body panels),
in general, you get what you pay for,
the parts bolt right up, so no worries there,
you're gonna need to get it painted...or primer it with the rest of your car
ask for tons of pics...i bought a front bumper from somebody and the bracket where it attaches to the fender was sheered off, rendering it useless. so i had to find another one and fight the guy thru paypal for my money. just be careful and goodluck.

since i've got the dual halogens, they're just H4's. get 'em anywhere. not sure about the projectors but you can order them from some online shops. just gotta search it up.

you can prolly get a conversion kit for that too though, they make 'em for just about everything.

Do you cut or remove the bumper beam to put the silvia front on?

i had to chop my bumper support to get the FMIC to fit on there...then i just notched the holes that it bolts to the frame to get it on there. i guess the safest thing to do would be to get a silvia bumper support and just bolt it right up.

don't forget that you need new headlight mounting brackets. they don't usually come w/ the conversion. you can pick them up at most nissan related shops or on ebay for about $60.00.
regarding the lights... i'm probably in the minority when i say i really don't like the halogens all that much. i'm more of a fan of the triple's (probably because i have them) and the duals. the bulbs for the projectors can be picked up anywhere. i got replacement bulbs for mine at wal-mart.

I'd suggest parting one together, if you just take a couple weeks yoiu'll be able to find all the parts you need and save a couple hondred I'd say. Nice to see a forum with such helpful users

^ too bad that usually isn't the case. if you try to peice it together (like i did) you won't save any money and it will take you longer. try finding somebody that sells those panels seperately. most of the fendersi found were cf and cost a shitload same with the hood. i saw an aero bumper for the first time on ebay and it was 650. that doesn't sound cheaper to me.
i got mine from a place called solar imports in texas. it was 650 + shipping for everything except brackets. the parts were in decent shape for such an old car. the hood was a little beat up but all in all it was fine for the price.
