Home Depot Lip Kit?

Honestly, do people like to cheapen their cars THAT much? I was surfing NewTiburon, a Tiburon forum I'm a member of and I came across this. The idea came from an SRT-4 forum. It involves getting a garage door sealer from Home Depot and cutting it and creating a lip kit for the front bumper. Really... really? Is that what we are coming to? We can't afford nice stuff that belongs on cars anymore, we buy stuff that belongs on a garage floor and slap it on a car? I'm so glad I got out of the Tiburon scene. There are smart members on that site that try their damnedest to give Hyundai a good name and people like this come along and ruin whatever we did to help. I'm glad I got my 240SX when I did.

what i think is stupid are the replys to the thread. Those guys are just sucking his dick with all of the "wow great diy" shit. Next to a cardboard body kit that has to be the dumbest thing i have ever seen. it is made out of foam so when he drives does it bend backwards. and what about when it gets wet? that double sided tape wont hold and it will sag in-between the zip ties. What a Jackass.

i think its funny your dissing this so much, whe its perfectly good for what its being used for. people hae been putting that stuff on 240's for years dude. its actually good stuff, its not "cheapening" your car. you can spend 200 bucks for some lip kit, ill spend 15$ at home depot, have the sam function, and then ill get my cam. if your using it for looks, then look at it. if it looks good, buy it.

my sig is a pic of a home depot lip kit. problem with that shitty garage door stuff is its just too small, doesnt actually acomplish much. but you can see on mine, i hae a good 3" of functioning lip, which is also flexible enough that i can use around town without breaking apart. sure if your into looks thats cool, it does look nice. if you want a front lip that works, get garden liner, and screw that shit in

+1. Seen plenty of people use the home depot kits on Hondas also. Some of them don't look bad at all. Seen some on 240's as well. If you can make it look good for 15 bucks and functional............why in the he** would you spend 200+ for an name brand one............let me guess NAME BRAND . Come on O.P. QUIT HATING PLAYA. We all are not made of money.

Well, as you can tell, I'm not fond of it. I'm definitely not made of money either. I guess I would just prefer to save my money and get something more reputable than a garage door sealer. Also the fact that paint doesn't take to it. I prefer my body parts on the car to be painted and cleared unless it is CF, then it depends on what it is whether I want it painted or not, but it still remains clear coated. Each to their own, though.

True, but consider this analogy: a potentially extremely hot girl dressed in really dirty, ratty clothing and dirty messy hair. She can still be hot but because of the stuff that is on her, it makes her seem dirty and thus not so hot.

I just don't think non-car parts belong on/in a car. Just my 2Ę.

it all depends on what the owner likes. not all of us have tons of money to spend on lips and other body parts. i want to put a home depot lip on my car because im broke and it doesnt look half bad when done right. this 240 here is beat to hell, but the lip didn't look that bad on it. i think if it was supported more in the middle it would actually look pretty good.

i say to each his own. i mean if thats what the guy wants to do, let him do it. you dont have to drive it. i have a home depot lip on my car, and minus the screws holding it on i think it looks good. some of us dont have the money to spend on a xenon or other brand lip that cost 200+. and piggy lips are harder to come by now a days. the money issue is the main reason why i did mine.

I prefer my body parts on the car to be painted and cleared unless it is CF, then it depends on what it is whether I want it painted or not, but it still remains clear coated. IDK dude! That's the same garage door sealer my dad use and its kept the weather out of his garage all the while maintaining its style while providing a nice cushion for the door to fall on for a good 3 years now.

Bravo Eric Bravo. You bash this kid who's car would smoke your tib. Because you put Chrome Rims and a front bumper on it.

"bettering the Hyundai name?" You think you did a better job? Here's your sorry excuse of a tiburon. Yet he downgraded his car.

It look's fine... It looks OEM... You can't even tell it is there unless you are looking for it... I would have deff tried to come up with a way to remove it better than zip-ties... but that doesn't even much matter. stop hating.......
