My New Project

I got me a new project. Its a coupe. Needs a paint job but i got it for a good price (450) and once i finish it will be my daily and my drifter. came with a welded diff and its on coils and also has an aftermarket steering wheel hub. Still dont know what engine to put in yet but i am tight on money right now. if you guys have any cheap suggestions then tell me and i will consider it. just thought i would post this here for now but i might not a while till i post something new.

And some stickers that came on it

And my favorite bit

It does have some damage on the right rear quarter panel tho and needs to be pulled out

So i decided to work on my coupe today. i need to drop the front subframe and weld a sleeve on one of the bars. i decided that while it is all out and all of the suspension is off im just going to buy new suspension for the front and rear. here is my progress so far

And something neat i found on here under the driver side fender

I got some more done to it but it was too dark to get any good pictures. i will keep you guys updated as the week goes on and happy thanksgiving if i dont post anything new by then

Oh sweet jesus you haven't looked that the rails!? Thats a ballsy move. I alway check the rails when looking at S13s, especially the inside face (where I didn't look when I bought mine).

I know all about this. Check out my hatch build. I fixed all that trash on mine. It was time consuming and sucked.

Which build? Is it the scratch build of the other 1990 one? Sorry for the thread jack CDenny. Once you get to those frame rails take some pics and post them. I'm curious to see their condition.

I got another car for parts right before the time to work on the coupe comes to an end. i got this for $150 and he even delivered it to my house so it was a steal. i did get a notice from my town about the coupe being in "inoperable condition" and if something wasnt done with it in 7 days then i would get a ticket. but anyways here is the new car for those who are wondering

This car came with many goodies such as a free heavy duty ratchet strap, a jack stand, a crescent wrench, a nice steering wheel (needs to be cleaned up a bit), an extra clutch pedal and master, brand new brake master, and stock headers and exhaust. doesnt however have a hatch, front bumpers, fenders, or hood. also no front seats or any carpet

You have a lot of options as far as motors go.

I have been in 2 Kas that have lasted well over 180k miles.
If I didn't already have my Sr I would just get a Ka-t built with a 350z 6 speed trans.

Sr is tried and true for good fun.

V8's cost a decent chunk of change and a lot of time.

It's not the price of the engine that drives the price up, its all of the nickle and dime stuff that brings v8 swap prices close to 10-15 grand for Ls motors. There is also the 1uzfe and Vh45 that people go with which are much cheaper.

You can find everything you need off the shelf though. You do save some "money" by making your own mounts/headers/ wiring etc but you still end up spending the time for it (time is money) so yeah.

Will you be painting this or sending it off to paint?
My goals are to do it myself but sometimes it is really tempting to just pay the money and let the pros handle it

In regard to a sbc 350. The swap is more expensive that you think. I looked at this for my coupe. The lack of semi-lightweight transmissions steered me away. You could do a world class T5, but they're still not strong. T-56 is just retarded expensive. There is also a way to adapt a CD009 to an LS bellhousing. Still expensive in the end.

Since i am parting out the parts hatch now, i was given the task of taking off the control arms. i am so glad i dont have to worry about dealing with this myself.

I feel bad for the poor bastard that had this before me.

As for this, i will hopefully be getting an internship at a local body shop over the summer and they have their own paint booth so i will be doing it myself in a professional environment. sorry for the lack of updates as of recently but it has been too damn cold to work on them

and as for the whole engine situation, the guy i bought my coupe from has a ca18det with forged pistons and rods and spitfire coilpacks and it comes with the ecu and 5 speed manual for an amazing price ($600 for those who were wondering) but the only downside is the engine is all disassembled. I will be picking that up and throwing it in there very soon then turning up the boost to hope for at least 250 hp maybe 300 without getting a bigger turbo. also if you know anyone in the chicagoland area that needs engine parts for a 300zx tell them about me. i have a full engine and auto trans out of one that i need to get rid of.

Ca's are stout little motors. I would look for a shop nearby or start making connections with shops that do carry parts for Ca's

Enjuku has a good bit of parts for ca. if you can lead me in any other directions as well, that would be much appreciated. also has to be relatively cheap

I picked up the engine. Its about time I finally got something. Ca18det with forged pistons and rods. Sadly disassembled and sadly no turbo but also came with splitfire coil packs. And a 5 speed manual. All for 400 dollars. The head is all assembled tho which was nice. These were taken 2 days ago and some things have happened since then. New post for that tho. Until then, enjoy my mess

The update as promised. Degreased and cleaned the block and oil pan. Also scraped all the rtv and silicone gasket off of everything

Another update, got the head (mostly) finished. The only thing it needs is the rear timing cover. Other than that, it's all good to go. Cams and all put in and torqued to spec.

Now all I need is the piston rings for one piston, the turbo, head gasket, timing belt, lower timing cover, and fuel injections and rail. I can only hope I can find it all. If any of you have any leads, let me know and i will greatly appreciate it

Another update. One of the science teachers at my school has a powder coating business and he gave me an unbeatable price to do the valve covers. So I just brought them in today too get powder coated. The color will be a surprise until i get them back. More updates to come in the future

Thats a nice price for what ya got. I have a blown t28 if you are interested. You can find cheap ass t25s as well.

You should be able to get this whole thing running for under 2 grand depending on what you have and what else you need.
