yeah so i decided to start this project for myself today... so i took my oven and preheated it to 240, set the timer at 15 min, then stuck my taillight in. 15 min later my taillight came out with the lens all bent out of shape... not cool... great way to start a project...

did you by any chance keep taking the tails out or did you wait the 15 min then take it out the oven??

15 minutes seems like a really long time to keep it in the oven.

also, has anyone looked into the sequential led turn signals i mentioned eariler? i am just wondering how much extra work and cost it would be on top of this.

Sequential turn signals would have been really cool!

My leds are on their way, hoping on receiving them tomorrow.

I have taken the lenses of some ugly aftermarket lights I modded a while a go..I think I used 100 degrees and had them in the oven for like 5-10 minutes maximum..It did the job for me, but it might be different with the original lights..

Very cool. I also think the sequential lights would be cool.

beatiful congratulations and thanks for the detail turorial btw if you want

So, this came to my mind, also purchased from RadioShack:

This going to make the car knows there is a bulb still there. The bulb is 12V and 60mA, so it fits my application. And the bulb is so small that it won't shine the light thru the perfboard.
I soldered the mini-lamp bulb on the line like this:

or on the board like this:
