Hello my friends!
I know that this would be quite out of the ordinary but, I thought that if it coul dwork it would be great. My question is whether or not it would be possible to fit a chevy 350c.i. engine in a 240? Or even bigger would be better like a 454 or 409c.i. I was pretty sure that these engine would just be to big. I know that alot of guys will want to flame this thread because "domestics are crap" etc, etc. But I love how easy and cheap it is to make power with the chevy engines but, I love how sleek and sexy the 240's look. I am not necessarily trying to get in a magazine or win show awards. I just want to go fast as hell. I'm trying to break into the 10's or even high 9's. I know that with the "cheapness" of using a chevy engine and the lightness of the 240 it should not be to terribly hard. The biggest problem I can see is trying to get the dang engine in the bay.
P.S. When I say cheap I don't mean that it is hardly any money I just mean that it is usally cheaper and easier to make ponies with those engines then with the imported engines. The only reason I can find is that since these engines have been in America sine the 60's and 70's the aftermarket has had plenty of time to develop parts for them.

Just wanted to hear y'alls opinion. I do ask though that if all you are gonna say is "domestics are crap" and such and such. Please don't post I just wanted to know if anyone has done this or if it would even be possible.

Thanks as always!

thats 5k right there. and thats just for starters dont forget amout wiring crap engine managment, all the stuff docrice said. thats another 2k easy. do you guys have the slightest idea what 7k is going to do to a turbo KA or SR?
If it's a KA, then 7k will build you a very nice 11 second car.
If it's a SR, then 7k will buy you a second and third motorset after the first one craps out on you.

I don't know how much Ivan at phatKAT.com or Ethalapy invested in their cars (KAT and SR). But they are putting out crazy numbers with their engines. As a matter of fact i think they might have spent less $$$ than compared to a Basic LS swap would cost.

if SR' are crapping out on you then you obviously dont know how to tune one. maybe it was too complicated for you and you just gave up and went with the good ol' merican muscle

everyone is doing them now. its not cool anymore. :gaylaugh
One reason I don't want to do an SR swap is because everyone has them. Does that mean I deserve to get 'gay laugh'ed at?

.....you guys didnt catch my sarcasm did you. in case you didnt know 217zenki i am doing sr swap lol

and who gives a shiite what people think of sr now, parts are cheap for it. and thats what i care about

soon rb and ca will be gay cause everyone is buying them, although i would like to do a pignose ca powered track car

i knew you would useing sarcasm. but form the popularity standpoint, "everybody" has them. but really there is a reason for that, simply because its a great motor, id like to be different so i wouldnt get one. SR=good stuff. but in my mind, too many people have it for me to want one.

How about the RB30 swap i bet nobody has that.
nobody has money for that, dont try to sneek in some crazy swaps in this thread to start a discussion.

mtn: im not so sure about that. drifting is getting ridicoulsy big, 240sx are the next civic. they have already attracted all kinds of wannabe drifters. how long did the honda craze last for? since the begining of the import scene really. thats a long time. 240's are cheap, rwd, flooded with aftermarket, exactly what they are looking for. dont get me wrong, i like a strong 240 community, but i hate to see 240s falling in the wrong hands.

^^^yep and i also believe that when the wannabe's find out how much an sr is and how high maitenence s13's can be i think they will turn the other way and end up selling their cars(well hopefuly) maybe its time for me to buy the starion down the road, so then i can be different lol

Also we can't forget the all mighty filter for drifting, skill and practice, which ricers don't do either so we're good to go, so when they crash, more parts for me to take at the junkyard :). But I do know that there is going to be a lot of people that just say they drift, theres already a bunch of those, the guys who buy 240's just to say they drift and when you invite them to go drifting they always have some lame ass excuse, sorry just a little rant there.

he was being sarcasic. RB's are badassmotors though.

when i see pictues of some big friggin V8 in a 240 bay, you can just tell it doesnt belong there, somthing isnt right. i dont care how clean the sawp is, to me it just doesnt look like it should be there. maybe because its a V configuration, i dont know. besides the fact that i hate them just looking at it....it just doesnt look right.

so was I :D

anyways.. it's all a matter of taste.. i like sleepers, but a 240 with a lopey v8 would kind of give it away.. now i heard a focus with a 302 once that sounded just like a regular ricer focus driving around.. it wasn't until he really got on it is when that thing screamed.. not saying you couldn't the same with an ls1 in a 240..

IMHO if you want an ls1 buy a f-body.. if you want an ls1 in a 240.. then do it.. nothing is stopping you, if you care that much about being different then more power to you.. i am happy with my little sr swap.. it so easy and you don't have to walk around going "oh yeah you just wait until i am done.. .. .. .. if it runs"
