2jzgte question

now i have searched the forums and found ridiculous prices for the 2jzgte swap into a 240sx.
i cannot understand why the swap costs so damn much.a jdm engine/transmission combo with everything to make it run costs 3000 at best.if you dont care about your spedo working or anything like that then why get the wiring harness cut/reconfigured to work with the 240.and all i can think of from there is fuel pump, intercooler, and mounts.i realize mounts are gonna shaft you about 1500 if you purchase them or you can make them(alont with trans crossmember).and if yoou cut/reweld your driveshaft then why buy a new one?maybe im not looking at the whole picture here but i dont understand how it costs so much...i would love replies on this

Usually one of the big costs is getting everything to work right between your new engine and your car. Things like getting your gauges to work properly, A/C, PS, ect. Can rack up quick. It also depends on how much work you do to the car yourself and how much you pay someone else to do. I could build motor/tranny mounts for $50 max whereas, like you said, you can buy pre-made ones for a lot more.

I don't see the problem with modifying a driveshaft as long as it's done professionally. I know plenty of muscle car guys running modified stock drive shafts with no problem at all. Although IMO, if I had to get a driveshaft lengthened I would go with a new one.

Legit parts are so much better to work with than ghetto shit!

I personaly purchased a Xmember and trans mount,DS, and got the harness worked on. I don't like Head ackes.

I wanted everything to go as smooth as possible. although I did drop the motor in and other items done with some help but mostly all done myself.

yea i was thinking the harness would suck and would have to be worked on but would it be possible to not modify the harness and run diff gauges?idk if its possible but modify supra gauges into the dash?
and as for the drive shaft i did think that was ghetto and i really wouldnt want to do that personally(even though iv seen mad hp/torque run through them)but i was just thinking bare minimum for money.plus i know a very good welder and i have the garage to do it and im sure i can figure most of it out BUT if worst comes to worst i do have people to run to lol
oh and mexicanracer03 how much did you swap come out to in the end?
