You can put an alarm in any car, yes it will be compatible...do you have power locks already? If not, you will need aftermarket acutators to get the keyless to work.

Viper is one of the best brands, although I would never let best buy install it

Considering I have worked at "specialty" / "mom & pop" shops, and currently work at Best Buy doing installs, I can tell you that any bay is going to have its good and bad installers. My suggestion is pick whatever location where the INSTALLER makes you feel comfortable. Best Buy does give lifetime warranty on install though...

Also, think about the Viper 5701, its $150 more but you get a 2-way pager (no screen, thin model with LEDs)... and if you dont want the remote start portion they can install it without it. Its our top seller, we do ~2-3 a week.

Is it true that they cant install the auto start on stick shift cars. I tried to buy the new viper that compatible with the iphone and the dude told me its against the law in cali to do it.

well its good so you can warm up your car while you get ready to go or if you got ac to cool it down on a hot day before you get to the car. more or less for convenience i guess.

Actually the new Vipers are designed to be used with manual transmissions... but it may be illegal in your state. In FL it isnt, and we do them quite often... there is a 'safety sequence' that must be performed each time u exit the vehicle in order for it to R/S the next time.

As for the SmartStart, remember the car has to have cell phone signal, as well as the phone. Parking garages, underground parking etc you will still need the regular remote.

I assembled the components for my alarm on eBay. Paid about 1/3rd of retail for everything, all new parts. Viper 5901 is where it's at :P
