KA24DE head bolts

Long story short I'm rebuilding my KA. So I bought a rebuild kit and it did not come with new head bolts. Question is can you or can you not reuse the original head bolts? Reason I asked is because I have searched and I didn't find a straight answer. Some say you can't reuse them some say it is recomended. Now if I did reuse is there any side effects in the long run?

The bolts are Trq. to yield meaning that they stretch and is 1 time use only. FSM says there only 1 time use. Ppl have reused them but I won't reuse them just to save a couple bucks and blow the HG cause the bolts stretched and now have a down vehicle. Not worth it IMO.

Like 240 kid said they stretch and the fsm says to never reuse them. It's not worth the head lifting and you having to spend more money. On top of that there will be more down time.

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Thats right. You can't reuse them. I would upgrade to ARP studs while in there. ARPs are reusable if not over toruqed.

ARP's are only reusable if it's still "Stretched" to within there tolerance.
