I am getting a t3 for my KA, starting the turbo project

Just thought I would let everyone know, I'm getting a t3 from a z31 from a guy off 240sx.org....It's clean looking, polished housing...i'm just waiting for my funds to transfer to Paypal then I should have it :-) I'm planning on JGSTools Manifold (weld it yourself deal), Z31 T3 Turbo, and a SMIC for now unless I can sell my nitrous kit for around 300, then I'll go front mount....But I'm sure i'll be asking some questions , just thought I'd share about getting the turbo.

who knows...i got rid of it before it ever touched the car

I know guys making decent power(250-275whp with it).

I got rid of it b/c it spools to quick and is nearly impossible to drive off boost.

cool, i'm kinda wanting instant boost right now, but that might change later on...I'm just looking to make about 250 rwhp right now...daily driver/drag/drift/autox haha....maybe one day i'll gear it towards a single plan...

there's nothing that can "spool too quick." as long as it'll hold a decent amount of boost till redline. and as long as the BOV is setup correctly you should be able to drive off boost just fine.

He didnt like hitting full boost by 850 rpm, and going sideways alll the way up to 5th gear, what a weak kid.

quick spooling turbo generally means lotsa heat, low efficiency at high boost, and not enough power. My goal is somewhere around 300whp after 550's and a bc, a T3 wasn't gonna do that for me. I should be able to hit those numbers around 12psi w/ my current turbo...where it's probably impossible with a T3 on stock internals.

i could hit 300 with a T3 on stock internals. i'm doing around 250 right now with a T25. planning on going for 280 - 300 with a T28 (which uses a T3 compressor).

BSFC at .45 and assuming 15% driveline loss, you only need about 32 lbs/ min of air to get 300 at the wheels (assuming an air/ fuel ratio of 12:1 based on weight). 60trim T3's are rated at like 60lbs/ min.

I don't wanna get rid of the turbo , i wanna run a t3....i could do that with the nitrous but i dunno, i'd rather go ahead and get a nice front mount and selling the nitrous kit would help alot..
