180SX to 200SX
Here's a question, why didn't Nissan change the name to 200SX when the (JDM) 180SX got the SR20DET instead of the CA18DET??
180SX = CA18DET, 1.8L
200SX = SR20DET, 2.0L
I know they US got a 200SX, but it was Sentra/Sunny based FWD SR20DE, & the Aussies got a 200SX Which is exactly what I am talking about, S13 Hatch w/ a SR20DET.
It was just a thought that I had.

But why?
They have done it for the Z cars,
240Z to 260Z to 280Z to 300Z to 350Z.
It just doesn't make any sense to me.

name recognition. its the same car, you dont change the name.
interesting note though, CA powered 180s in australia were still called 200SXs.

The 200sx in Japan is the Silvia. Since the Silvia had the name of 200sx, there would be too much confusion, so they just left it 180sx. The same here in America. We have two S13 240sx's. Which I think nissan shouldn't have done. Because when you talk to someone and just say "S13 240sx", they have no idea if it is a coupe or fastback (not like it really matters since almost all the parts will swap).

I didn't know that they had CAs in Aus., OK, I guess I'm just trying to overorganize the whole thing.
Thanks for the info, I'm gonna stop thinking about it and find something better to do, like sleep.

...at the crank. check under each of the engine sections there is a sticky thread at the top which has most of the info anyone could ever need.
I was sure this thread was gonna drop like a rock.
