Work wherever you think would best suit you. If you like where you work and can stand less pay, then stay. If you prefer to make more money regardless of where you work, the leave. I've gone to Autozone ever since I got my first car and they've never steered me wrong. I hear the contrary as well, but that's just personal experience, really.
The fact that you work in one doesn't mean you can't buy/do business with the other. If I were to get a job at Pep Boys or Napa, I'd still buy my stuff from Autozone.

My dad and I have been going to O'Reillys (which I'm guessing is the same as Checkers from your comments) and they have been screwing us over. Just a bunch of dumbass kids who say they are ordering something, and then they don't. We're officially switching back to Advance.
All I can say is hopefully your not as dumb as those kids.
But to answer the question, I say work wherever pays you the most.

It's because the only things they know about cars is what the computer tells them.

Thats the main and best way to look stuff up that we have.
If a customer ask for a 3in gasket with 2 bolt holes I'd say," let me get the tape measure and give me half an hour" as I would be in the back looking for it.
There are other ways to research it but no body knows and you gotta find out on your own.
Really the training at all the auto parts sucks.
I've found that all the auto parts stores suck and you need to talk to the seasoned employee.

This is the total truth. Sucks though. Seems like the seasoned vets work the day shifts. I can't make it to those.

wait what the hell the checkers where your at sells food??? lmao i've never heard of that, and to the guy that said he'd still shop at autozone if he work at napa... no you wouldn't my napa discount was 10% above cost= Cheap as hell. most of the seasoned guys do work a day shift, but in my store we have an ASE and GM certified guy working, basicly find the guy in the store who knows best what hes talking about and stick with him/her. thats the best way to get the right shit, bonus if they see you alot buying parts the better chance of getting a walkin discount
