WTF are YOU talking about? It is obvious there isn't near 3 inches in the tranny. Did you stop taking you're medication or something?

Radianation, your on the right track. Carry on...

Smart move not climbing under an inadequately supported car to remove a driveshaft.

Gismonismo, I have S14 w/ABS so it changes the dimensions a bit. My current driveshaft is about 2.5" too short. It slips in and out of the transmission, especially if I'm on an incline (like a parking garage). I believe this moving around is what destroyed the factory bushings on my rear end. The aluminum bushings on the rear end and vlsd are probably forcing it in just enough, but it's definitely not healthy for the transmission to have the driveshaft slipping around.

do you have a r33 cross member? back and foward:rotflmao? The diff is bolt to the rear cross member and the transmision is bolt to the center chasis. How can it move back and foward like a fricking jamaca?probably 3mm att most. You have abs and why do you still have it?Take that sht off man.But never mind man.
god you have a nightmare for a car dude. The more I read the more I know ..............................
No disrespect man.But you have sht load of work to do man.
Did you time it att 15?
I will like a gold coated exhaust man.....sht
I wonder how much hp can we make on a rb25 on pump gas?(little water/meth mix)

WTF is a fricking jamaca? It's not so much your spelling as it's that your thoughts jump around like an ADHD kid on speed, acid, and crack at the same time. You always seem to be talking about 2 or 3 different things at the same time and you seem to think you are right about everything.

+1...Personally I want gismo to GTFO.

McKinney engine and transmission mounts. You are not here measuring my car dimensions on my setup so in this case Gismo you are not correct. There is entirely too much play in the driveshaft. If I do a hard launch on drag radials it will snap immediately. If you want to argue this point then you're dumb.

Why are you talking about a gold plated exhaust? That's just ignorant. Why are you talking about my timing? We already solved that. Quit being a jerk. It's pretty lame. Most other people were rude until I started doing my own work and now that I'm fixing things myself you started being rude? lol I can't win! =)

You haven't hard lunch it yet ah?lol.I'm just saying if you want to learn you have the best chance above all this guys posting here.Who gets there first chance to work on a engine thats mostly built?you man.I don't mean it in a bad way.

and one puff dude you should know better then to start on some sht with me man.I have built far more tq then your fcking current miles on your 240 dude and seen bigger smiles wipeoff when I pop my hoods.Just be cool man his learning how to build and i'm here trying to learn how to write.lol

Actually, the first engine I worked on (not counting my KA24DE or the old Maxima I drove) was an RB20DET that blew up. I pulled it from the car, tore it down, and contemplated rebuilding it before buying an RB25DET and rebuilding that one. But of course Gismo knows everything... I bet he knows what I'm wearing right now... :gaylaugh

know it all?lol.Ii'm just an @S you know me.lol.besides what have I done?right?
See how stupid I am I finally realise that GTFO means get the fck out.lol.
here green guy say bye bye:happyfinglol

Man, I'm a pussy. I got the car jacked up tonight and couldn't get the drive shaft off. I don't have a breaker bar or a big wrench so the smaller tools I had didn't have enough leverage and I didn't have enough of an angle to really crank on it to get the bolts loose. I even hit it with a little pb blaster and nothing. =/

It took two jacks to get the car completely up on 4 stands. Neither of my floor jacks would get under the crossmember so I had to use one jack in the pinch weld to lift it a touch and then slide the bigger one under the crossmember. It was kind of fun and a learning experience.... Anyways.

I tugged on the driveshaft to see if I could move it. Couple of questions... What does it mean if the "rattle" noise I hear is coming from the VLSD flange area instead of the transmission side? There is some play, but I didn't expect the sound to come from there.

Secondly, I was trying to rotate the driveshaft to get at all of the bolts, but with it in neutral it wouldn't turn more than a few degrees? I had it in 2nd gear to get the car up and then threw it in neutral but no luck. Any ideas?

You dont have to drain it, but its going to leak for sure. Put a pan under the tail shaft when you remove it. Sometimes it won't leak depending on the angle... he is right though. it smells and it sucks to clean up.

Try putting a wrench on the bolt and wacking it with a hammer like an impact.
