heater and a/c make car stall

I have a 91 240sx its pretty much stock. The problem is when my car is idleing and i turn the a/c or heat on i hear a horrible screeching noise and the car stalls. Also when im driving and turn the a/c or heat on i can feel the car lag a lot(probably makes noise too). whats wrong with my car?

Your a/c compressor is getting ready to lock up, or the relay that's supposed to increase idle rpm when you turn on the a/c isn't working. If you hear squeeling when you turn on the a/c, that's the belt slipping, trying to turn a compressor that's going bad.

exactly what i was thinking.
take your a/c belt off untill you replace it so you can still drive your car.

you've got a leak... w/ freon, the oil also goes out w/ it...

recharge the system w/ some oil charge as well as some freon & maybe you can still save the compressor...

That clicking noise is probably the electric clutch on the ac compressor engaging and disengaging.

If you don't intend to fix your AC just unhook it, there's a connector right behind the ac clutch, unhook it, or take out the ac fuse.

yeah, if you look at the compressor while it's running, you can see where it stops engaging for a second, starts again, stops again, etc.
really annoying is what it is
