where to run turbo oil lines on sr20det (HELP!)

i just got a t28 turbo im installing in place of my t25.

the t25 had 2 oil ports and 2 coolant ports (one in one out)

the t28 that i have just has 2 oil ports (one in one out)

my question is: where should i run the oil line IN from the motor and where should i run the oil line OUT of the turbo to the motor.

on the SR20DET there are 2 oil inlet spots on the bottom of the motor. i believe these are drain spots for once the oil has run through the turbo. which one should i run the oil from the turbo to.

on the back of the motor there is that rubber line. is that where i should run oil INTO the turbo? or should i run oil from the motor somewhere else into the turbo?

THANK you all in advance for any help you can give me!!!

here's the way i think my set up should be....

the port on the top left of the motor is a COOLANT port. i block that one off with a regular bolt and washer.

the one directly below it is an OIL port i block it off as well with a washer and bolt.

the tubing that goes back to the back of the motor (has the banjo bolt connector) that is where i will run oil INTO the turbo.

and on the bottom right of the block where there is basically a nipple for where the old t25 oil drained to is where my t28 will drain to.

does this sound right?!

Thanks

Sounds right but the line coming from the back of the engine is a water line for the turbo...guys?!

One in the back is water line. Block that one off. Left side port from the engine mount and the nipple on the bottom right will be used. Those are your oil lines.

i traced the line on the back, back to the thermostat so i figured that wasn't oil haha.

but i ran into another problem. i used the banjo bolt from the motor on my turbo so now i need another M12 1.25 banjo bolt for that spot... any suggestions where i can get one? i went to ace, home depot, lowes, advanced auto, EVERYWHERE no body has one. or should i just wait and order some turbo lines or something..

if you buy ss braided lines, it will make your life 10x easier. especially if u ever take the turbo off again. i suggest you do this. try to find some with AN fittings instead of banjo fittings.

i ordered a set that came with all AN fittings except for the one where the oil goes into the block. so i went to my local summit and was able to use an adapter and did not use any banjo bolts.

i doubt you have a local summit though, so just find out what you need and order it from earls.

hope i helped.

you can get the AN fitting for it. I did the same thing as Andy did. But getting the SS lines would make your life way easier.

ok so i routed my oil lines to the New turbo and my motor is smoking SO bad! this is why i changed out the turbo in the first place! could this be a bigger problem? i really dont think the new turbo is bad so why would it be making SO much white smoke.

any suggestions?

White smoke is Coolant being burned. Either you have a busted head gasket or the seals on the turbo are gone. Was there any shaft play on the turbo? To check your head gasket either to a compression test or check the spark plugs. if the spark plugs are super wet and they have a weird smell to them then you have a blown head gasket or a warped/cracked head. lets hope its not warped/cracked.

Oh and Posi here goes a better site for you. It has everything some cheaper than FRsport.

Oh and thats where I ordered my hard to find banjo stuff and price was a good thing so was shipping.

there was some coolant in the turbo from when i originally thought the line behind the motor was oil and the coolant got in the engine and was burning it. but its all good now.. car runs like a top.

ok so car is smoking blueish white smoke now... (if it aint smoking it aint a 240 ha) but ya i checked the compression and its 150 all across the board. and the line where oil goes into the turbo is leaking just a bit which isnt a big deal right now because i can fix it but the smoking is a big deal considering its a new turbo. also on the turbo i have the oil IN line is on the bottom of the turbo and the oil DRAIN is on the top of the turbo.. should i turn the IN line to go on top ot the turbo and make the drain on the bottom? could this help? idk...

usually blueish smoke is oil being burned. did you buy this turbo from somebody or did you order it online brand spanking new? could be the seals on the turbo if has been used before. there should be a drain on the bottom of the turbo and nipple should come of the drain, from there run the hose to the bottom nipple on the block. top port should be for the port besides the engine mount. i would double check this with the FSM tho. I have never worked personally with the T28's but have read about them. another thing, was your car smoking before the new turbo?

ya it was smoking before. it was white smoke before. i also ordered the turbo brand new online. the way i know it was the oil seals on the turbo that was in it (the t25) is because there was oil on the inside of the intercooler piping. am i right? if there is oil in the intercooler piping then the turbos seals should be broken right? haha im always second guessing myself...

the intercooler pipes will always have a little oil in them. Usually the turbo leaks oil on the exhaust side - well its more noticable here cos it will intermittantly 'puff' blue white smoke
