Can a fuel injector really sound like rod knock?

My S13 redtop has a clicking/tapping sound coming from the upper area of the engine. The sound varies in loudness and isn't really based on how hard the engine has been running. I can drive it easy in the city and it could be really loud, or it might be relatively quiet after cruising at a constant 3,000 RPM. When I touch the #2 fuel injector I can almost feel where the sound is coming from. The other injectors don't do it as much. The sound goes right with the RPM; as the engine accelerates, the sound speeds up accordingly. Could the problem really be a bad fuel injector and not something more serious like rod knock or a bad head?

maybe you should clean your fuel injectors ... because it could just be dirty causing that cylinder to knock (not rod knock either)

check your valve clearance, you might want to do a valve adjustment

No one in my area that I checked with could clean my stock 370's so I sent them off to deatschwerks.

My injectors makes a clicking noise but its nowhere near as loud as a rod knock, and cant be heard when the hood is closed, esp from inside the car.

If the knock does not get louder with throttle then it is likely top end related (which is better than bottom end).
Do you have an oil pressure guage? You might not be getting a lot of oil to the top end at low rpm. You should get a guage, or remove the valve cover and make sure oil is getting pumped on the cams when the engine is being turned over.

Yea as dolby stated the injectors dont sound all that loud. but it makes a little tapping noise. Maybe post up a clip with the noise problem so that we can hear it. somone might be able to give you a better answer.

You cant do valve adjustments on SR's. They use hydraulic lifters that are self adjusting.

yes you can adjust the valve on sr either putting in thikcer shims of cutting the valve. but befor i start drifting off heres what you can do to make sure its your injectors and not sumtin else take a really long screw driver and touch the injector on one side and your ear on the other then you can hear if its the injector or if its sumtin else. be very careful doing this. dont use a short one and burn your fcking face off
