Spaghetti,

Great post, I just installed the DIF Fan Controller and had the same confusion on the wire colors. It's because there are two places you can tap the wires, the Sensor Side (Black, White, Red) or after the connection point (Blue/Orange, Black, Blue/Black).

Sensor Side
___________________
|+Black | -White | Red |
___________________

----(This is a connection point, note the wires change colors.)--------------

After the connection point
____________________
|+Blu/Or | -Blk | Blu/Blk |
____________________

(*Note Blue/Orange wire sometimes looks like Blue/Brown)

So from the DIF Unit the:
+White wire taps either +Black (Sensor Side) or +Blue/Or (After connection point).
-Gray wire taps either -White (Sensor Side) or the -Black (After connection point.)

great write-up, i am going to follow in your footsteps in the next couple months (saving now) and have a huge burden taken away by the work you did for us all.
thanks for taking extra long to do the swap by taking pictures of every single detail and posting them. you have no idea how much this will help 1000s to come.

Wow....
Positron!

You`ve really outdone yourself.
This has got to be one of the best, if not THE BEST, writeup I`ve ever seen.
Not only will it help guys wanting to do a swap but it`ll also help guys do basic tasks like replacing thermostat`s or general seals etc.

May the Car Gods bless you with many many power-filled miles
