Bad Luck

I get my coil packs and put them on the engine. I fire her up. Set timeing and cruise around enjoying the new engine in my car. Then all of a sudden it starts missing. Like I running on 3 cylinders. I pull over and pop the hood and there's smoke comeing from under the coil pack cover. I'm like HELL NO. Turns out the little pigtail wire for you to check timeing to the number 1 coil rubbed the fire wall enough to ground out and burn up number 1 coil pack. This sucks big monkey nuts. And my turbo is unbolting its self from the exhaust manifold.

Yea the stock turbo likes to do that. Only way to REALLY fix it is to take the turbo and manifold out, tighten the nuts and make sure those metal clips are jammed against the side of the nut so it can't turn. Good time to replace the turbo to manifold gasket if you never did when you installed the engine cause I know mine was completely blow out and I drove around with a huge exhaust leak for months.

both of us got ours from heavythrottle...and we both have problem after problem sounds like. but i hope not to top his coil problem. i have enough to deal with with oil spraying out all over my garage wall. motor sounded beautiful when it was running with no smoke at all coming from exhaust, oil pressure was perfect. so dont give heavy throttle a bad rap for it...i think every project has its tworks.(if thats a word)

I did still have the nut stoppers on the turbo. The little gasket between the turbo and manifold blew out. Only a piece was left in there. So much that I could see light thru the crack. I made one out of aluminum and installed it last night. I did have an extra coil pack, but it starts to fail after 5000 rpm. So i can cruise but I that's it. That's OK though, because I worked hella overtime in the last two weeks. Check will clear 2000. So I'll fix all my problems with a T28(not over 14 psi though) and fancy tubed exhaust. Imma dedicate 1100 duckets the this project. So what ever I can get withn that, will be ordered.I'm here in Slidell Louisiana, and I found out there's a shop in Houma (1 hour away) that specializes in SR20 swaps. I'll call today to see if he has any coil packs for sale. This bad luck streak has gotta turn around.
