how is it revving to 5K? Is it smooth at least up to 5k?? Did you check your ECU to see if you're throwing out any codes? Check your throttle cable and see if its getting snagged up on something. Slim but still a possibility

when i take the maf off and rev the car.. it dosnt want to rev at all... just spudders
now when i drive and gun it from a stop, when i get to 4k it spuuders and wont go anymore... if i feather the gas (tap lightly) i can get it to go 7k...and thats in every gear... tap lightly it will go no prob. cehck the throttle cable.. good.
mayb a boost leak.. but i see nothing wrong... im going to order nwe intercooler kit and see what happenes i guess ...cause im out of ideas.
if it was a maf problem it wouldnt rev past 2500rpm, i say check timing and cas.

Mine is doing thing also, but mine doesnt even idle. I get alot of break up at 4k rpm and the plugs are foul in about 20min (or atleast they get black). It just starts backfiring and bucking like crazy. Its almost like it hits a wall.....I am thinking a bad maf or IACV...maybe o2 sensor. Any ideas...does that sound like a IACV?

How old is the exhaust? I had this very similar problem happen to a evo 8 I was working on would rev to 5k and then hit a wall and not accel any faster, I took the exhaust off the motor was able to rev up all the way. (the catalitic converter substrait actually broke and was cloging the exhaust creating enough backpressure to inhibit some of the exhaust from leaving the cylinders, inturn not allowing enough fresh air in to make the motor spin faster) Its worth a shot.

it was fine for like 2-3 weeks.. no problems.. until i went to the track first run... it bogged and my acc went off... im working on the radio harness and all that shit in there cause it was tore up from previous owner... i ordered a new intercoolerkit w/ piping and new bov.. i hope it fixes the problem cause i hear the turbo spooling fine. i duno though.
if its not bad gapping.. you should also ALSO ALSO ALSO CHECK YOUR DAMN THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR... i swear so many times people are like" i have trouble revving to anything past 3k" well if its not your CAS/MAF then its your TPS 90% of the time ... test that with a digitial volt meter.. at idle it should read 4-5 volts.. but as you rev it up it should drop to 1.5v at the lowest.. if the voltage stays at 3.9v or higher when you rev to 3k (at idle) then you my friend have a bad TPS
hey i know this is an old thread but my sr is kinda doing the same thing....in N i can rev all smoothly and 1st gear is great but after 1st my car wont rev past 4k...havent checked anything yet because it just happened but just trying to get some input and be put in the right path....this just started happening

WTF? If it's the same problem, just read the thread and try what they already stated to try. If you haven't even bothered to try anything, why would you bother to ask for more help than was already given? It isn't like; "Oh, if edgar350z has the problem, then it isn't MAF/TPS like 1,624 people before him on the forums, but rather etc. etc.".
