questions for ya addict whats the difference between the halo design and the one you did i honestly cant tell the difference. Also how are you going to get those welds past certification? I didnt think mig welds would pass a tech inspection for cage certification, maybe they can i just thought they woulndt have the strength that you would need and can get with TIG. I could be wrong though.

95% of the welds on the cage are tig. mig'd the base's and acouple hard to hit spots... well the ladder bars might be mig... I don't remember
both are legal as long as there is no undercut or holes and they're complete. You can get enough penetration from both, that cage isnt going anywhere. and I guessing you've never seen a cage inspection at a drift event. with the addition of an inspection hole these cages and welds would make it through nasa/scca too.
Im too lazy to explain the difference in design haha, just look at the pictures of this cage and dan's coupe where the visors and mirror are and compare. you should be able to see it.

It's like that because we couldn't get a header that would clear the steering shaft. Sooooo we made a super long downpipe, it's janky but the shit works.
And yeah, you should see the welds we get away with on cages of drift cars. Shit is seriously ridiculous, my friend's old s14 had holes on the edges of the base plates from too much penetration. We tack welded the main hoop down just so we could drive home and work on it more the next day.....yeah the main hoop fell over. As long as it looks like a cage, fuck it.
PS. I love Ryan's car in all of it's quick fix, let's drift glory.

Ahhh i see the difference now, i like the 2nd design better seems like it would be easier to make and mount in most respects
