Hello! I'm Terry from Irvine, California. I bought a manual 96 240SX SE a month ago. Everything is pretty much in stock. I do plan on doing some modification, but I wouldn't be doing it (or drifting) until next year or so - after I get better with the car.
I have renewed everything which is easy to install. The next fix I must do is my shifter. It is very loose. I mean, you can shake the stick wherever it is. You can even draw circle with the stick when it is at Neutral lol... Also, no one can simply look at the stick and tell what gear it is in. A careless fast shifting will result in shifting to a wrong gear. For example, when shifting from 3rd to 4th without a perfectly down movement but just slightly to the left, the stick slips to the 2nd at the point of Neutral. That is how bad it is at the moment. Someone told me it's "the rubber" inside the shifter box. When I look at the repair manual, I guess he meant the second boot? (There are 3 boots in the shift control components, in page MT-10.) Is that also called "shift linkage"??
I am looking for relevant information on the forum before I make a post. Anyhow, I will talk you people in the future. Have a nice day!
