We almost had the car tuned til I got owned by the cometic HG. We got it fully tuned on 13psi and it made around 355rwhp and then we turned it up to 18psi and did a pull before we started tuning it and it made 414rwhp. We were tuning it and when the tuner got into the throttle it started spraying coolant out of the radiator(there was no resevoir on the car so the nipple under the radiator cap was open). So we checked the pressure in the radiator and at idle it was 16psi and as soon as you gave it gas it jumped up to 22psi. So we checked for water in the oil and oil in the water. Everything was clean. So we checked the coolant for any exhaust gases and sure enough had exhaust gases in the coolant. So the HG didnt give out but apparently it has a weak design in sealing around the cylinder so its allowing exhaust gases to pass by and get into the water jackets. Im going to put an Apexi HG on there and get the tuning finished and see how much it makes. Im hoping to hit 430rwhp on 19psi. Seems attainable with it making 414rwhp on 18psi not fully tuned. Heres a quick mod list

S13 SR20DET
GT3071R .63
Custom Top mount manifold
GReddy intake manifold
GM 3 bar map sensor
AEM EMS
AEM Wideband

awesome, maybe BC cams really arent chinese junk

No offense but i think its reading pretty high. Id like to see the numbers on a Dynojet or Mustang Dyno to compare. Im not trying to down the power, its just more than ive ever seen from this turbo @ that boost.

I only bring the comparison of dynoes up because Ive talked to a local shop with a Dynapak that says it reads accurate to a Dynojet but when you see the numbers, there always like 25-30whp more than the Dynojet would be. Itll be nice to see the comparison. Will you be able to post up his new and old dyno graphs?

the gt3071 is capable of that much power if not more....different cams, manifold, IC and intake manifold cam make quite the difference even if everything is aftermarket.

Top mountd GT3071 will make good smooth power, where as teh bottom ounted one has issues with holding boost and being incredibly laggy....

Yeah Ill have him email me the dyno once it gets done. Should be able to have it posted up in a week or so.

I follow you on how much power the 3071R should make but i have yet to see a dyno of it. Ive searched all around Fresh Alloy and seen 430+whp @ 24psi or something. I think 380whp @ 18psi. Ill try to look up the threads again.

This is Enthalpys dyno from the response thread at 13psi. This is almost exactly what my 13psi graph looks like. My setup made 355rwhp@13psi and I dont remember the torque. But the powerband looks just like this. The torque curve on mine flatened out a bit earlier though, right around 4400rpms and was pretty much a horizontal line til redline. Ill get the graphs up here as soon as possible, should be around the 5th of Jan.

Yea, im very impressed with Enthalpys setup he did. Never got to see the Dyno with the headwork done. Your car must be awesome to drive with a powerband like that. Its a wonder why more people havnt gotten there 3071R setup like Enthalpys.

Keep us updated on the car. I'm actually real curious on how this turbo holds up. I've heard mixed things about this turbo. It's great while it lasts, but it likes to blow up rather quickly (the one person I've heard who diagnosed it blamed a bad center shaft). This is probably the route I'll be going when I finally look for more power out of my sr (unless its a 3076) so I'm hoping to see someone else have success with it.

hahaha well now that you mention it...the original turbo had bad shaft play from the factory so this is the 2nd 3071R. There explaination was when ball bearing turbos sit on the shelf for too long it makes the center sections weak. But I am very impressed with this turbo, I never expected the numbers its making. Did Scott ever hit 400whp at 15psi?

thank you for that information I have almost the same setup as you guys I've heard many good things about this turbo but never got around people that already had it. the difference about my setup is that I'm going with a fully built s14 engine which I'm just breaking in as we speak but dont know how much it would make as HP they have told me that with the setup that I have I would be making 440 at the wheels with race gas now my question are this # true and remenber I have a fully built engine and as cams I have 264in and 264 ex HKS and a 5 angle valve job on the head with a 1.6 greedy head gasket let me know guys.

Never saw a follow up thread on Enthalpys Response Tune. I noticed he was running 9.0 Compression. Does that have an effect on how power is made compared to 8.5? I know your limited to running a few psi less on pump gas.

Higher compression usually equals more horsepower. I dont know what effect if any it would have on response. You are right the higher compression the higher the risk of detenation. With 9.0 compression 20psi is still safe on pump gas.
