i want to ask how many of you s14 owners like myself have a boat feeling s14. seems everyday after i bought the thing it feels like the car is on water. like a boat. not just me but my friends s14 does it too. and it could be the tires but its not. we checked. my friend parents own a tire shop. the car kinda swerves just a little bit to where you feel it but its not that noticable, but you can feel it. only when you floor it though. ive searched and found nothing.

and also any s14 owners get introuble by the police about having a colorful rear strut bar? because i just got one and its red. i dont want to get pulled over for a strut bar thats all.

thanks to everyone that helps.

its called stock suspension , get used to it or upgrade

how in the world would you get pulled over for a strut bar, do you have police with x-ray vision where you live?
rear strut bar is in the back window and is very noticeable. i wouldnt be worried about it, people keep stuffed animals and shit there. stickers are probably illegal too. cops have less to care about. boat suspension is common on stock shocks and springs. upgrade to some agx adjustable shocks or some coilovers

about the strut bar thing. its a little to flashy. plus you know how your not sapposed to have black lights in your car. its like that but during the day. maybe im over exaggerating but hey, how do you feel when a cop tails you?

Don't worry about the strut bar, especially if you have a tint.

As for cops tailing you, don't worry about it. Just act normal, you don't have to look at them or anything. I've had a couple tail me because I've accelerated fast off of a green light. I just stop accelerating once I hit the speed limit, they can't do anything, there's nothing illegal about it.

I have pretty much stock suspension, only addons are swaybars and a front STB, and I don't get a boat feeling when I floor it. Didn't get it before the addons, either.

Are you new to RWD? There's definitely more front-end "lightness" on acceleration with a reardrive setup as opposed to FWD/AWD; the front end can wander a little if you aren't holding it straight and you'll understeer noticeably more, especially turning from a stop. Weight transfer, baby.

Edit: Only applies to "normal" driving where you're keeping all four tires hooked up. Once you break the rears loose it's a whole different world of oversteer.

Maybe if you have really REALLY bad motor/tranny mounts, there could be enough twisting of the drivetrain to throw things off.

Seems like the kind of problem you can't really diagnose, just start replacing parts and see what eventually fixes it..

ok. it got worse. im sure that i messed something up while sliding last night. yesterday was, today was really bad. car swerved a lot more and a lot harder. this is a base model because it doesn't have the rear sway bar. do you think that not having the rear sway bar is the problem?

Not if it's getting worse. Lack of a rear swaybar will just mean more body roll in the corners.

Something's broke. Stop abusing your car and take it to a good shop ASAP.

Or be a man and find the problem yourself.

Your car prolly feels like crap because it's stock and old. For example we shall use whores.. Take an ol' worn out whore and try to beat the crap out of her and it'll be like throwing a hotdog down a hall way. Everything is loose and sloppy and just doesn't feel right.

Now you find yourself a fresh and young bar girl and it's tight and feels right. Your car is currently the worn out whore. You need to make it a young, unexperianced and new bar girl.

Buy a decent set of coilovers, replace your bushings and get some aftermarket arms and stuff. I'm replacing my swaybars soon with some GAB stuff. If you need a decent set of swaybars I'll sell you the OEM Silvia K's once for $50 plus whatever shipping is but then that prolly won't be worth it cause those Whiteline swaybars will prolly cost about the same in the end.

I have a 95 with 130k on it, front struts were replaced when I bought it and I have ST swaybars, but otherwise it's all stock and it definitely doesn't have any handling problems, it still sticks like glue with good summer tires on it.

Finding a general suspension problem on a multilink system with no other symptoms besides poor handling is a black art, up there with diagnosing random electrical problems...if you're just gonna shoot from the hip you could likely end up replacing every bushing arm and spring in there (not that that's bad, just pricey). Probably end up being cheaper to just take it in.

I still say stop abusing it till it's fixed though, no matter how it gets repaired.
