i just finished mine today and thought it turned out really really nice
thought id share:thumbsup

hello!
first off when i got the bumper i sanded it down so it was all nice n smooth w/ 800grit

then i sprayed the primer
- duplicolor sandable primer -
then i wetsanded that w/ 800grit

then base color
- duplicolor acrylic enamel (premium automotive formulation) gloss black -
not sure how many coats i did, but i almost used 2 cans
Image
like 1 3/4cans
then i wetsanded w/ 800 and then 1000

^that stuff is really durable i plowed into a curb acouple nites ago and the bumper kinda folded under, and the paint barely got scratched and didnt crack at all...
new ways

then i sprayed the clear coat
- duplicolor auto spray clear top coat -
(there the smaller cans...5oz)
i used 2 cans of that
and then wetsanded that first w/ 800grit and again w/ 1000grit cause it will be all orange peely

(it will turn like a flat grey, but dont worry, it will shine up and turn back to black when u polish it)

i used meguiars polish
(rub it in good n hard, and buff out... do this acouple times, the more u do it the shinier it gets, and clearer it gets)

and then i used meguiars cleaner wax
and that was it..

holy fuck that is awesome! and to think i just finished test roller painting my hood. too much time... and still has orange peel.

i have my whole car to repaint =/

previous owner painted it with a paint brush!

still working on stripping her down. this is definitely going to be one of my options.

you should take a close up pic of your factory paint for a comparison.

so you don't wetsand between the color and the clearcoat?

oh....hehehe my bad
yea i sanded between everything
even tho i sanded the color b4 the clear it still turned out orangy:12dunno
idk
so i wetsanded at the end too:thumbsup
but wetsanding at the end helps get rid of any swirls u might still have

dont mind the swirls and waterspots, i just washed it in the sun, the new paint is much clearer, the pic makes it look streaky/swirly
and dont mind the wax wher the bumper meets the fenders:thumbsup

Excellent job. I did the same on the hood of my dad truck a few years ago. I'd never do it again because, the paint takes so long to dry.
Spray paint dries quick as fuck. You must have sprayed to heavily

I dont think you want to sand the paint before you clear it....
You dont and he didnt
