was stationed there for 2 years...know all the good places to get decent stuff for a good price....ups garage is alrite, but i know a few junkyards where i can get what i want....think foster is the best though....then there is that one that is off in the boondocks....best place to scrounge for nissan parts. btw koopa, i see you alot on the zeroyon forums......im also guessing that you are on oki right now....

lol eric your right about the real estate growth in washington but its hardly doubling the value of homes every 3 years.

lol 8 series will get you laid and they are hot as hell. put some big dish wheels on it (fender space is ginormous lol) and slam it w/ ruggar (sp?) aero.

Koopa you are thinking of the "M8"... not badged in america the m8 but it was the 850 CSL and it only had ~450bhp.

pball.... vipers are slow, unless u get a 06 z06 they are slow too. You can make so many cars so much faster for so much less.

Of course a new Z06, LS7 is teh sex. I wouldn't call the SRT10 "slow" exactly, 0-60 in "under four"...plus that V10 just sounds nasty.

You're absolutely right, for $13k you can probably build an S14 that will take off faster than a Veyron or Ultima, but you're sinking all your money into the engine...by the time you do the suspension, brakes, interior, body, so forth and so on, a shiny new Z06 isn't looking that bad in comparison.

The problem is your not paying just 13k for those cars. Your paying 13k + the remainder at a generous 4.9% apr for 4-5 years. You end up paying a shit load more than what the actual sale price was. For the price you end up paying you could have a 3 rotor turbo FD3S or a legalized skyline (expamples from the import market)

+1.....a new car is nice, but i want to work on the 240, and make it better for 13k or less....that was the jist of asking the original question....

I realize the foolishness of dropping the money on a down payment on a house or a car, I was being mostly facetious.

For 13K, personally, I'd drop in an LS with high-lift cams and a good IHE, spend the rest on suspension and interior performance/safety (seats, harnesses, cage kind of stuff). You should be able to build a pretty mean all-round beast for that kind of cash. Of course, like ^ says, it depends on your purpose; if you want to drag, more engine less suspension, if you want to drift, less engine more suspension, so forth and so on.

Purpose of the car would help a hell of a lot more than just posting the budget.

Budget your car around the purpose of it. Don't decide the purpose of your car based on the budget.

purpose.....what the hell is that...is it an engine of some type.....i want a jdm tyte car with a bangin engine yo, so i can cruise through the hood and pick up all the honeys.....but seriously, i have some goals in mind, and if it makes anyone feel better, i just want a go fast car, with no more than 300 horses....ya know, something to have some fun with, yet look good while doing it kinda thing.....

Yeah, been here 2 years. Times are changing man, your best bet is mainland. I had to pay $260 for some 5 lug hubs cause nobody wants to get rid of something they're gonna use. Foster's the last place you wanna look for a performance part. The dudes working the lot and Typhoon motors get their hands on those cars way before anyone else even looks at it.

You gotta first ask what the car is going to be used for. If you're gonna drift then you're going to have to progress with your car. Drop in a stock KA, put 2g's into coilovers, sway bars, bushings, and strut tower bars. Get yourself a harness bar and a good adjustable sparco seat and maybe a wheel. Get a 2way LSD or weld the rear diff. Put good tires on your stock wheels. I like falken's.

DRIFT DRIFT DRIFT

IF you are better in a year (you should be) then do a basic SR20DET swap. Drift that 'till it blows. Rebuild it to 300whp. Then up the boost as necessary. If the car isn't totalled by now you'll be a nasty driver with a sick car.

dang that sucks...used to know 3 of the ppl that worked at foster's junkyards, before and after they moved it.....they use to hook me up to a degree, but still....hmmm, anywho, i still wanna go to oki as a vacation though......maybe go to mainland to get some parts as kinda a side trip i guess....anywho, are you marine or airforce bro...

850's only come as automatics though right?
wikipedia said:
The 850 (V12) models carry either a 4-speed automatic transmission, 5-speed automatic transmission, or a 6-speed manual. 850CSi model only came with a 6-speed manual transmission.
