Aight I did a search on clutch chatter and didn't find much useful info (what does clutch chatter normally mean is wrong?), my prob is that when the clutch is dis-engaged (clutch pedal pressed in) I hear a high pitched hum, and some clutch chatter.

Its a brand new OEM clutch with new TOB installed and I just installed a new Pilot bushing about 6 months ago. So I'm not sure what is wrong, I guess the TOB or pilot bushing could have been damaged or something, but I've only been on this clutch for just under a year.

My clutch also has a hell of a time dis-engaging, I just bled the system and the clutch was perfect for about a week but now its back to the whole "I gotta push the clutch pedal ALL the way to the floor (and I mean ALL the way) or it wont let me put it in gear" (and the pedal is adjusted to the max height). So waddya think?

(I'm prolly gonna have to pull the tranny huh?)

Thanks for the input

Andrew

no i don't

How long has it been since you changed the clutch fluid? The fluid takes on moisture over time, which will turn to a steam bubble in the lines close to the engine, when you push the pedal, you just compress the bubble and don't actually displace enough fluid to move the slave cylinder. You'll feel clutch chatter when you have the clutch partly engaged, like when you first get the car moving, it's sort of like a jerky engagement of the clutch. It's usually caused by oil on the flywheel, clutch, or pressure plate. Can be just a oily hand print, it don't take a lot. That high pitched hum could be the TOB.

I just bled the clutch about 2 weeks ago (and re did it a few days ago, but only a slight bleed) It feels as though the clutch doesn't dis-engage all the way, which is what I thought would cause the clutch chatter. As far as oil on the flywheel, this could be a big possibility, I am missing that plate that prevents dirt and what not from going up into the tranny (that metal block off plate thingy, lost mine... :() and have been worrying about that forever, so you think I should do a full clutch bleed and see what that does? or what

Oh and is that hum from the TOB normal? (It had the same hum before I replaced the pilot bushing, and afterwards it was fixed so iono)

Completely replace all the fluid. That plate being missing could let someting get up there to contaminate the surfaces. Even a piece of cardboard taped down there would be better than nothing, if you could get it to stay. I know somebodies gonna say their's has been off several years and they've had no problems, but when you look at it, that trans bellhousing is nothing but a big scoop when you take that plate off, that can't be good.
