Oh...ouch! Well on the bright side you now have a beater car you can drive the next time you decide to do a "project" with the 240sx. I love the feeling when you finish a project like this and getting back on the road for that first test drive...usually makes it ALL worth it. It'll be done before you know it!:thumbsup

same here. you get this warm and tingly feeling inside you. eheh i want to scare all honda's or at least some hehe
Now see...you need to set your sights higher! Modded Honda's are a small stepping stone. But why not go Mustang hunting or something? :D

you should be able to mess with the new cobras...i don't know about blow it out of the water....they're all hype... they're fast but not no where near a modded car, and if it beats you ...so what... the 240sx is bomb at handleing in the canyons.... wheres the rustanges at now... or even the hondas....

I own a 240 with a sr swap coming soon but I love all fast cars. Please don't think that the new cobra is all hype. They run mid-high 12s bone stock and with the simple change of a pulley on the blower they can run mid 11s. They are not all hype. As a matter of fact, in their bone stock state, they are faster than most any other car with maybe the exception of the fastest vette. I've personally seen at least two stock cobras dyno above 370 hp bone stock. They are rated at the fly wheel at 390, so that tells you that ford is underrating their power because there is more than 20hp loss in the driveline.

I'll believe it when I see it. I know that the magazine testers claim that the new Cobra will run in the high-12's, but I doubt I'll ever see a stock one do that. In fact, I can't remember ever seeing any Mustang run want they are supposed to run in person. I can't even begin to count how many Mustang's in general I see run at the Texas Motorplex everytime I go. What are the new Corba's actually dyno'ing? I know that most of the previous N/A Cobras (the ones rated at 320hp) dyno'd in the 240-250's at the wheels regularly. Either the drivetrain is highly inefficient or Ford lied to their customers about the numbers. Wasn't there a recall or a law suit over this? The Cobra R was fast from the factory but any car that comes from the factory as a striped tin can should be.

I'm not going to get into a contest with you but I can point you to plenty of boards where you can view many bone stock dyno graphs that are over 370 hp and I personally saw a stock one on a dynojet dyno go 374.

As far as 320 crank horse power dynoing at 240, I don't believe it. There is no way it has 80 hp loss in the drivetrain. Any moron should know this. This is a link to a dyno pull of a stock Mach 1 mustange which has the exact same drivetrain as the N/A Cobra . What is funny is these pulls were done at Secret Services in Tampa which are known for their ability to tune SR20DETs. They probably have the same losses as our cars do (240s). My Ford automatic truck has a 4.6 liter and loses approximately 65 horsepower on the dyno. There is no way a car with a much better transmission (manual vs. auto) and a shorter driveshaft has more drivetrain loss than my truck.

As far as the new cobra, it has a DOHC 4.6 v-8 with aluminum heads and an EATON M112 blower on it running around 10lbs of boost. So it basically has the same motor that came in the previous cobra except with a big-ass blower on it.

Don't be a hater, all fast cars are cool. ;)

Not being a "hater". I love fast cars...all makes and models. I just don't like hype. I'm not saying your wrong at all. In fact that's awesome if the new Cobra is putting down 370whp; it's about time Ford made a worthy Cobra. This doesn't mean that I'm going to go to the track and actually see a stock one run in the 12's. Even if they do that doesn't mean it's unbeatable. If you wanna go up to the post where someone mentioned the new Cobra and replace it with a Z06...that's cool too. It was just a stated goal for HondaKilla to reach, nothing more.

As far as the previous Cobra, if you go back and look I believe there was a recall issued by Ford regarding the power output of the N/A Cobra's; maybe lawsuit of somekind too...don't remember. Basically, Cobra owners where dynoing there cars and finding out that they produce way less power than they should have; in the 250rwhp range. I remember actually seeing a dyno in MM&FF magazine where they dynoed a stock Cobra at about 250rwhp as a baseline before modding it. In fact, for a while many would agree that Fords fastest vehicle was a truck, the Lightning. I have seen a few of those run quite fast even in stock form. But that's in the past apparently Ford has solved whatever problem they had previously.

BTW one of those fast Ford F150's I saw wasn't a Lightning at all. It was a standard F150 with an aftermarket centrifugal supercharger. Looked stock...ran mid to high 12's...neat trick!
