its not a matter of the engine, its your hp goal. honestly 300 isnt shit, you have to understand there are 1700lb civics putting 350 to the ground riding around EVERYWHERE, and thats fucking fast, damn near 1k lighter than you and more hp... if you want to own the middle weight class.... (boosted civics, srt-4's, cobras, ss's, stock vets... ect..) you are going to need a minimum of about 450, and some weight reduction. dont worry about that kinda stuff though, 300 is good, it will handle the ricers running around, your factory gt mustangs, factory 350's and stuff like that, but your big boys in the middle weight class will smack your pee pee in the dirt. I live in greenville sc, and the middle weight class around here is pretty nice, we have some 350hp civics, 400hp srt-4's, so on and so forth, my 240 puts 446 to the ground and holds his own 95% of the time, the ones you can never tell what is done is your mustangs, ta's, ss's and shit like that... stick with the sr, it will make all the power you want.
 
This thread is god damn ridiculous. Your basing all your modifications and engine work on "beating boosted civics and srt4's". You build a car for yourself and to have fun.... hence being a hobby. You dont build it thinking "i want to go beat all the turbo civics". That will end with you having numerous tickets, killing yourself, or worse... killing someone else.

Perhaps this is just me all growned up.

Hey bro, if you havent already found it, their is a faq in the sr20 forum with alot of interesting ways to get to get alittle more power from the SR...been taking in a read myself, and it sounds like a good way to get 300+ horsepower. Me personally, have been thinking about it, and i have already settled for the s14 blacktop, and hopefully 300-325 horses. My budget comprises the engine-3k, maintenace parts-500, suspension parts -1200-1500, and a few upgrades-2500. Thats me wanting to get the engine running right, to replace some old and worn parts on my suspension and chassis, and a little something to get me past the 240hp mark to get started. If you want i can pm you some different things i have been looking at, or maybe we can compare ideas bro..either way good luck bro ^_^

maybe you should re-read some shit, The guy was asking what should he expect for 300hp, i told him he would be in the bottom of the middle weight class, and would get his ass handed to him by some civics and shit. he nor i was basing shit off boosted civics, just letting him know what to expect. so maybe you need to pick a different hobby besides running your cock holster

Inno, even though i have never swapped an engine on my own, i figure that if you can get one running then i can too. I cant wait. After waiting 5 months, i now only have one more month before i can order my engine :heyhey

Perhaps you didnt read the plain english I left behind. Hes asking about building a 300hp 240 (which is great) and you leave a comment saying "you'll only be in the same category as boosted civics". You are comparing what he wants to do to others.... that is god damn ridiculous. I never compared my car to someone else's when i built the exterior or engine. :smacked49

I just realized you said you never swapped an engine or built one... you are a waste of my time. You're another one of those "when i get my engine..." people.

all i wanna know is what to expect. if youve built so many engines then you should be able to tell me. im getting my motor soon and will be swapping it in soon and want to plan ahead to further prepare for funding. i just want a quick list of what to get to get an sr to the mid 300's. thats all i wanted from the start

the thread is about me doin a fuckin sr swap and upgrading later on. take time and read the thread from start to finish and see wat its about instead of wasting space with useless comments.
 
what about if i did an rb20 swap. would i be able to hold up against the civics and srt4s better?
Doing the fabrication for a rb is much more of a hassle than a sr20. I was looking to do a rb25 swap on my S14 but the S14 S14 swap proved much better due to the excess fabrication. If you are on a tighter budget i would not recommend a rb swap. If you want a good daily driver just do the S14 S14 swap and with minor upgrades you will have a fun daily driver that is faster than most people on the road.

There are about 1,000,001 threads all over freshalloy, NICO, and this forum that will assist and basicly hold your hand on how to get 300hp. Is it that hard? :12dunno
