Im looking into new bearings for my engine (aside from the OEM) and it says the ACL bearings all come in standard size.

Now....Correct me if I am wrong, but this means i will need to hone/machine my rods and main journals to fit these bearings properly for oil clearances since they are not in different grades like OEM...?

if you're replacing bearings or rebuilding an engine, its a good idea to make sure that the crank journals and the rod journals are perfectly round anyways, so you would be doing the machine work regardless.

Nismo makes nice crank and rod bearings for the SR which come in OEM sizes, but have a machine shop check your rod and crank bearings for roundness and finish before ordering new bearings.

I always use a bore scope on my journals myself since I have access to these tools at Volvo. I never just automaticly line hone the bearing journals on a rebuild. At most I deck the block and head, hone the cylinders for cross hatch, and then do a valve job.

I dont like the idea of just one grade bearing. I believe I will stick to OEM due to different grades/clearances.

mm go with clevite or calico they have the best shit, they sell all their bearings in +1 and standard, the +1 being .05 smaller than the standard bearings that way you have room to work with.

Well i worked for Nissan for a few years and have ordered bearings before for my SR. I plan on sticking with OEM because if its good enough for that company to use in an engine that is supposed to be of great quality and last thousands if not hundred of thousand miles, its good enough for me.
