What am I looking at for whp on an NA KA24DE (dohc) if I do catback, intake, headers, cams, pistons, rods, port and polish... ect. How much am I looking at total. And is it worth it. I am looking to spend around 1500-2000 on this car. Just let me know if that is reasonable. I know the pistons and rods prolly not, but can I get cams that I wont have to change the pistons and rods out. Will they be worth it and is port and polish really worth it. Also what is the stock rwhp of a KA with around 80k on the motor.

stock with complete (header back) exhaust and intake will make ~135whp. for 200 at the wheels you are looking at changing compression, eliminating massive amounts drivetrain loss, most likely itb's, 248/248 cams, standalone fuel management (if you run itb's this is your only option), and quite a bit of good fortune.

It will be cheaper to make 200whp with FI rather than N/A

ye 240 kid pretty much covered it.

What's funny is I have less than $1500 into my SOHC turbo kit as it stands right now...probably will hit $1500 when all is said and done.

Thanks for the info guys I might just turbo it then cause I dont want to do a sr swap. But then again that is quite expensive. i dont know what I am going to do right now I will think about it.

NA is deff fun.
but...expensive.

Well. if the 1500 price limit is killing you. I'd suggest getting a turbo setup or going with the SR.
It'll cost you that much if you do your research and shop around for a while. Although it's suppost to put down 200+hp. I'd say it actualy puts down 190 or so. But it's already FI so you can get some extra power easily.

Still though, NA is deff fun=)

Go with a ITB setup.
It wont be putting that much power down but damn is it one hell of a drive!

bhp is brake hp your fucking idiot. Thats power put out at the spindle discounting the unsprung mass of wheels and tires. Thus thats already accounted for your drivetrain. The power rating done today by most companies is of the engine at the flywheel. Occassionally you will see it bhp but thats more common with sports cars or exotics where the motor is only found in that car.
