Wow.. If CarlH lives close to you, by all means have him do your tune. He is knowledgeable and by supporting him you're supporting the RB community. Hey I haven't checked my mail box in a week, any chance you sent out the PS pump bracket stuff?

Sold wheels, sprayed it flat black, did lots of body work, engine swap done..

Got some springs on her till I can afford some coils next spring

Black 15x7 Meshies w/30+ offset, sit pretty good

Image

Primed the car and fixing a few small dings and lining up the body panels much better
Image

Sitting much more agressive, intercooler is fairly straight.

Pignose bumper is broken on the bottom due to some ass at my highschool. Bought a Chuki bumper at a junkyard. I still need the fender extensions

This week, ill put on my rear springs, sand down this coat of primer, the car is 100% straight, throw one more coat or two to practice my mixing/shooting skills, block sand, then spray some base/clear on it! The color is going to be breakwater blue matallic by toyota. It's mostly silver with a hint of blue, im sure most of you have seen it on the newer scion's.

looks great man, keep up the good work. oh and take that damn license plate bracket off of your bumper! lol
License bracket is off and holes are already filled lol!

I mounted the bumper already. It turned out nice and clean. I need to find some fender extensions though.

I really can't say much for the swap yet since It's still not running 100%. But I like it so far. The power potential is there, much quicker than my sohc, the swap was fairly cheap and easy.

The only thing I would have done is gone with an rb26 style manifold on the side for 2 reasons, my intercooler kit has a huge ass cold pipe and it's hard to make it fit well, and 2, if you ever need to replace injectors, it will be a whole day affair.

looking good man. straighten that intercooler up!!! haha
lol, in the pic the bottom mounting brackets are on and it's tilted slightly, it usually is real straight :greddy:

Great job. I totally suggest you get a pignose bumper. It looks tons better then a chuki bumper :greddy:

To be honest, I like the pignose bumper, but chuki's hide the intercooler much better. I like the clean-sleeper like appeal.

Nice job on mounting yours, very neat and straight!

I would like to thank Carl. He took some time out of his day and looked over the car and aswered my ridiculously repetitve questions. hopefully the car is headed in the right direction and should be running well soon with his advice! Right now it's looking like a timing issue, so tomarrow ill throw a timing gun on it and see what's up.

Finally there is a coat of primer on the car - im still a noob at spraying, so there is some splatter and runs, but w/e, I can always sand it down and doing it agian - just takes time and patience!

Time for an update! Woot Woot!

The car looks exactly the same as it did before, so no pix unfortuneatly.

The car runs like a total beast now! My problem turned out to be base timing being incorrect. It was set at 15deg at first, but the ecu was for an auto, so I turned the cas to 20deg, drove it and pulled hard all the way to redline!

I wanted to make sure it was running well, so i made about 8 wot pulls through 3rd gear today, and only 1-2 times did it burp. Most of it was close to redline and it poped out the exhaust, nothing major at all - sounds like a tune problem of some kind.

At 7psi, it pinned me in myseat. I can't wait for my 14psi tune carl.

Update:

I'm going to put a set of stock wheels back on the car so if someone wants to buy my meshies to help me pay for some parts that I need that would be awesome!

I wish the tracks weren't closed for the winter or I would take it to the drag strip and see what it would run. It feels like a high 13 car

Update!

Power steering is on and working - much more fun to drive now.

I got a steal on a set of used michelins at a tire shop, so now i have some tires with get this.. TREAD on them haha

I've block sanded the rear 1/4 panels and left them, i'm really burnt out on body work since i work at a body shop for a part time job right now, it's not exactly what i want to do when i get home.

Hopefully I have my old wheels/motor/trans sold to a guy, so that should be some change to play around with!

My wideband should be on sometime within a week or two. I'm getting a friend to set up my wideband and socket my ecu so he can teach me how to run an emulator to retune the stock ecu. Hopefully I can fix up the rich ass stock tune and make it a little bit more smooth and pick up a few ponies doing so. With this setup, ill be ready for my injector swap later on so I can run the stock turbo at 14 psi or swap to a new turbo ;-)

thanks for following my build. Should be pretty solid in a few months or so. taco bell doesn't pay worth shit, but im in high school, cut me some slack :p

Here's how the car currently stands:
