This will be a 56k KILLER....

Im a longstanding Mr2 guy, but im not an mr2 "modifier".. I love my immaculate, bone stock mr2's.. But at this time of my life, I need to get back into the DRIVERS seat. So I have followed suit with a few close friends and decided to pick up a 240sx to have for track duty and weekend fun. Im not new to the game, not new to working on / fixing them, or even driving them.. just new to my OWN 240 lol

New car is a 1990 240sx base model hatch
No mods, sohc motor, no power options, no sunroof, 146k miles... running decent, picked it up for CHEAP

Day I bought the car:

Guess I can layout the premise:

It will see track duty... of whatever I can get into..

I love to autox, It wont be built to win a specific class, but it will be out at most events with the TSCC in 08. I will join some friends at local drift events, and once it starts getting RIGHT, my ultimate goal is to get out on VIR (and hopefully highrock raceway soon) and enjoy trackdays..

THis is not my mad tyte JDM dorifto project, its not my "strip down to be a race car" setup, and its surely not a bandwagon attempt... this will be "project: bare essentials" (for the most part) and the car and plans will be about efficiency and an all around ability...

Ive started by doing all the little cleanup, surveying what I have to work with, and prepping for whats to come. The "stripping" of the interior was for the initial cleanup... most stuff will be put back in, I will probably remove sound deadening, do a little rust touch up on some surface areas, and spray a small layer of undercoating to seal it up and give it a decent finish.

The main areas of business will of course be motor and suspension:

Coilovers, Tie rods/ends, control arms, bushings, etc...
then decide on its power (what motor, mods, expectations, etc...)

Day 1:
Final day of owning my mr2, along with by DD geo tracker, and first day of the 240...

240 has 50lbs of dirt in and out, lots of rattles, and it smells: Time to strip and clean

Keep posting!

Build threads are fun, and its neat to see the progression if individual projects. Read my swap story if you want to see the progression of my bone stock 240 to EVO hunter!

^looks like ive been asnwering more than asking... lol but thanks.
I'm probably going to run the sohc to the ground then replace... Its driving fine now (minus clutch issue)... so we'll see how tough this sohc still is..

The progression will start mostly w/in the coming weeks...
but the money from my mr2 is now sitting in my account waiting to be spent!

Nice project!!! I cant wait to get my hands on another s13.... That mini golf club you found is sweeeet!!!!!:thumbsup

ha, slow progress this month.... next month is when parts should start be arriving...

and to the charlotte guy.. Its a tacky thing for the moment, but whats wrong with Importsnc?
i pretty much got banned from there because I posted about how my first car(a saturn) got totaled by illegal immigrants. And they took it as racism. carolinanissans.com and 240sxforums.com are ALOT better.

well, FYI: I didn't do the ban, but I could have...
I think I remember that awhile back. I dont hold a grudge or what not, but I do run INC.
Feel free to start fresh if you'd like, if no, I understand.. But I hardly think it warrants speaking up to say "take the decal off"

but this is another forum, lets drink, modify, and be merry...

beer is... as well as long ass flat head screw drivers. so definitely dont put the rear seat back in. its a huge waste of 10 lbs, and the back seat is more comfortable w/o it. plus if you ever decided to deliver pizzas, its much better. looks sick though for sure.
