Ok so I just bought a 1989 240 for my daily driver. Replaced the clutch and took it out for a drive and it idles up and down from 0 to 1000rpm and it died once when i came to a stop. It also doesnt get up to temp only about 1/4 inch up from cold. I havent had time to really look I was just hoping that someone could help point me in the right direction. Thanks

So, I did some research and have been driving my car more to find out some more problems. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and nothing happened my temp gauge reads cold the heater is not producing heat it just stays kinda luke warm. The car still has idiling issues although not as bad. I am doing some more research but does anyone think these problems are related. I also checked all vaccum lines and ground wire. Any help would be great. Thanks

Fist, can you hold it at 800rpm and its stays?? if so I woudl just adjuts the TB screw.
If not. Check the TPS and the AICV
Also you didnt state what motor it is, that would help some.
not to be obvious or anything but uh... KA24E. just bought s13 for DD im assuming its stock

Thank for picking up on the thermostat. Cant belive I forgot that...
and its not that obvious.. people pick up SR cars all the time for dailys...... well I do! 5 years im been in the 240s and I have still never done more to a KA than take it out. The SR is seeming more common to me every day... I'm kinda glade it making a move to teh RB's now.

Yes it is a KA and yes it is stock. Thanks for the help im doing the thermostat today and you can hold it at 800rpm but i tried adjusting the TB Screw but same problem, so I will check on the TPS. Whats really weird that I just noticed is when i push in the clutch while going around a corner at low speeds the car will actually die where as if i am not turning the idle will just jump all around. Kinda weird I thought. Thanks for everyones help

Hey thought i would tell you that if your ignition coil is bad it will do the same thing that you are telling see your temp will never get hot because combustion temp is to low and if you run it for awhile and the coil is bad it will over heat and the engine will shut off so defently think of that.
