The engine has been rebuilt and is going into the car next week.

We went with a Cometic 1.3mm head gasket. It originally had a Greddy 1.1mm but after the rebuild we felt that the 1.3mm would be a better choice. We're thinking that a basic tune is going to put out around 700rwhp after the rebuild and the turbo pairing. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to LEARN how to drive this car... Yowsa!
 
safe driver or not, that's a lot of power. Even driven a drag car before? you better get some classes man.

Hell every now and then I get to race my friends mustang, and it puts down MAYBE 350whp and that thing can get pretty scary.

I'll probably sell it within a month if it's too scary. ; )

Update ** Just ordered and paid for the LoveFab manifold because he can meet our tight timing schedule. It sounded like the McKinney wouldn't be ready for about 4 weeks and we want to get this project wrapped up this month. =)
 
700hp in that car is not going to be fun, my dsm made over 650awhp and even with awd and drag radials on the street, it would just go all over till 3rd. hopfully you have a nice solid rear not a shitty irs now with that much power.
 
I wonder what kind of rear he could run.. Maybe a GM 10 bolt irs from a gto?

Nevermind that was an easy find. Dumb question.

Ok, all this talk about transmissions has me worried that I may have been scammed on the RB25DET transmission as well. I'm thinking that it might be the RB25/RB20DET transmission. I'm going down to the garage tomorrow to find out. I'll be livid if it's the RB20DET tranny. If so, I'll try and source a 300zx transmission... Lame.
 
^i would have to say that if you did get scammed on that tranny, it would prob make me go insane after reading what youve been through for this swap to take place.

on another note, i too am doing a swap, though i need a tranny. you think itd be fine to get the VG30DETT 5spd tranny and find a loose bellhousing from a 26 or even a 25?

I confirmed that the tranny is RB25DET, so that's good. =)

Now I've found out that the pulley on my power steering is bent or something is wrong in general. It won't easily turn and gets stuck for about 1/2 of the rotation. I'm either getting a replacement RB25 ps pump for $100 or an S13 and modifying it for $50. Thoughts?

I also realized that my old RB20DET AC Compressor will not mount up with the RB25DET.

Does anybody know what AC compressors will work with an RB25DET? I can get my hands on an S13 and S14 compressor (not sure if any differences).

Looks like we're going to pass on the AC for now and I'll get the RB25DET Power Steering Pump replacement instead of the S13 just so I can re-use my chromed housing for appearance.

Also, we're going to get a different clutch. The ACT 6 puck that I have is not sprung and I'm concerned about the practical use of it for autocross and road racing (although it would be great for drag racing). I'll be putting that up for sale if anybody is interested.
