Hi I just recently bought a '93 s13 and I obviously bought it for a project car and im going to be setting it up for drifting. I was just curious to see what some of you guys are running on your setups and what might be the best. I'm dropping in an sr20 (of course) but im just trying to do all of the research I can before I just start ripping things apart. Please feel free to give me any kind of input. I really appreciate it.

Well it seems to be the easiest install as far as cost and time plus some of the rb series there are modifications that are required and I really don't have the know-how or equipment for something of that extent. The sr has a good amount of power to get you sideways as well as being light. But thats just what I have read.

How long have your driven your car? Have you even pushed that KA to see what it can do to see if it's enough for you? Basic bolt-ons can make a KA pretty damn decent for under the price of the SR swap, I mean basic I/H/E and a LW flywheel and you can have alot of fun. But thats your call.

I havent driven the car yet im having it shipped here. I want to test the limits of the car when i get it and go from there. It just seems like everyone is throwing in the sr20. I have heard people going turbo on the KA but i wasnt sure how it would handle on the motor that has 147,xxx miles on it.

Ya if you have never driven one or owned one you are going to be suprised with the stock KA. They are extremely tourqey if you put some bolt ons on. I have a track car that is a KA with exhaust, headers, high flow cat, intake, and uninstalled pistons rods and sleeves. I will put those in this summer and so far the car is mad fun. Just try it out and drive it for a while. SR is a lot of money unless you have it. So I would be carefull.

Well I'm really looking forward to the car getting here now since you guys say that the KA is pretty decent. If I build up the KA and eventually want to swap in an SR are the parts interchangeable? (i.e. headers, intake manifolds etc...)

My advice is to weigh your options before making a decision... Either swap or dont swap. That easy. You can easily boost the KA and push 250hp for under the price of swapping in the sr20. If your worried about the mileage of your KA, you can probably get a rebuilt longblock and boost it and have about the same amount of money invested as you would swapping in the sr.

Another thing I've heard with suspension mods is that it really depends on ur driving style. What works for one person or one car won't necessarily work for someone else. Also I would def wait before motorswapping bc I had an 89 with the KA24E motor and it was a blast to drive with only very minor mods, intake, muffler shop special exhaust, and gasket matched engine.
