okay, i have a '96 240sx its got about 118miles on the stock ka24 engine and im not sure what would be the smartest idea. whether i should throw on a turbo to the stock engine, or save up and do an sr20 swap. let me know what you people think and your reasonings why you think that.

search bro. this has been talked about soooo many times.
but IMO i love the KA and yours is running fine with no problems go for it.
do some research and see what u prefer.

goodluck

Ya this argument has been around for ever. Your never going to get a set answer. So really its just personal opinion, what you want from the motor ect. I personally like the KA-T for different reasons, and its just something a lil different then swapping an SR. Im also a fan of RB swaps, and theres not much monetary difference in the SR swap and RB20 swap.

I have to reply because im a post whore, but as these guys have already said, it has been asked over and over and all comes down to personal opinion. My personal opinion is like fakingdeath's, I would prefer a ka-t over an SR, and would LOVE a freaking RB.

my opinion= SR<KA-T<RB :thumbsup

Right on. SR is the easiest, most reliable way out. But I prefer the KA-T for a million different reasons. I wouldn't go for an RB20, but a 25 is worth it, and a 26 is baller status.

well im just worried about how many miles is on my engine. and what would make an sr swap easier that the ka-t??? sorry if thats an obvious answer but im new with all this stuff. i strapped for cash so if the ka-t is cheaper and still the smarter route then i'd obviously go with that.

wow, another one of these?

im not looking to make crazy amounts of power, probably around 350. BUT heres a major problem. its auto...so i figure if i was to just do the sr swap i could just get the tranny swapped at the same time and do the whole conversion to 5 speed.

wow, I'm closing this before it becomes a flame war. do your own research on the motors, your goal for the car, your budget, and your mechanical inclination and choose the motor that best fits you in all areas.

search!

don;t take it personally that I'm closing this, there are plenty of these debates around, search and you'll find the information you need.
