i went last year with some friends . . . . . .I think i'll pass this year. Not that I didn't have fun but i've had far more fun barhopping in nyc, philly or at the beach.
it's not what it's all worked up to be and the tickets are expensive as a mofo, I think I paid something like over $50+ plus part of the chartered school bus cost+booze so in all about $200. You can't really drive in there because thier's nowhere to park and you wouldn' t want to because there is no parking at the track since it's reserved for the buses and officials and the track is situated in the middle of the ghetto in Baltimore at pimlico, it's literally in the middle of a development.
I can see the appeal of it for people under 21 because at that age drinking in public at such an event seems really kewl. or hardcore drug users that want to get stoned out of thier minds with thousands of other stoners running around the infield which is partially dirt btw. So many people go that it's impossible to check who's underage or not and who has what and nobody bothers to. I'd say almost half were underage, anybody can buy tickets and anybody can bring whatever they want as long as it's not glass.
Security is very present, your also prohibited to setup tents(for obvious reasons) or grills.
If you're of age though, don't waste your time or money as you can have a much better experience elsewhere at least that's my opinion.
