I have found a Black 1991 240 5-Speed Hatch. Only thing that I dont like about it, besides it not being in my driveway, is the interior is brown/tan I'd prefer black. But the guy that's selling it says has bad rings and will run but wont pass texas emissions test. He's selling it for $1250o.b.o. It got the normal sun spots and also wear and tear on the drivers seat. Is this a good deal? Should I try and lowball him? I would wait and try to find another 240 but its a cheap black hatch 5-spd, my dream cept for the brown interior. Only bad thing about the $1250 price tag is that's every single dollar I have until the next paycheck which is two weeks away. Any advice? Should I make a low low offer and work up? Should I sit on my hands and hope in two weeks it's still there? Should I just straight up pass and not look back? Its been on market for over a month now. Thanks for the advice!

Whats the mileage? I would say straight up offer him 1000 and see what happens. If the interior is that big of a deal then just wait until another 240 comes along. I wish I would have waited and gotten a cleaner car myself but I was eager and now I really regret it.

Do you have another car? Or how do you plan to pass emissions with it? The interior is not a big deal if you get motivated enough you will figure out a way to get your black interior. If you go for it offer him 1k and see what he says, if he doesn't wait till you get paid. If it is still for sale try 1k again, negotiate a little. If its not for sale then it wasn't for you.

depending on the shape of the exterior/interior, then it would be a good go for $1000, i think.

where in ok do you live? im in lawton. but i payed 1200 for my 93 se hatch in running condition. i would just offer 800 if he says no way then tell him 1000 is as high as you can go considering the condition.
I sent an offer of 650 and Im goin to work my way up to a MAX of 900. Right now I spend my weekdays in Duncan, a hotel cuz of new job, and my weekends in Lindsay, parents house, or Moore, sister's house. Im looking for a place in OKC cuz thats where my job will take me in August for good but I have money put aside for my new place and money for my new 240.

just save up and get a S14 from some middle aged lady.... already with the five lug, f/r sway bars..... may even have the VLSD, and the older they are, the less they know about it and it's worth, i got my Zenki for a round 2500....

i say its not a bad deal, id offer lower than asking always at first, ya gotta bargain a lil! but interior, i haver dyed mine before and its not that hard, and it looked great, and for being a 5spd thats good. but yea, go for it, why not.
