You are correct in that air flows INTO the engine compartment when you lift the rear of the hood. Also, running with the rear of your hood lifted and no gasket = mega fail if something catastrophic happens under the hood at speed. Hot coolant or oil spraying out and all over your windshield isn't pretty.

Yeah i'd definitely get yourself some hood pins asap. My buddy put it off and, of course, hood flew up on him a week or two after getting it. I recommend Aero-Catch pins to everyone, pretty much the best pins available and virtually no chance of them failing because of the locking design they have.

use a dremel with a roto zip bit so you dont crack or spider the hood

Sounds good. I'll give it a whirl this coming weekend.

I have some good and bad news about the car today...

Good news, the HKS Boost Controller and AEM EMS have been futher tweaked (timing) to generate a crapload of power right now on pump gas.

Bad news --- I expected to encounter some rear end problems with all of the power we're putting down, but maybe not this drastic or this soon... The bolts holding the subframe to the chassis have literally ripped through the chassis and my rear end is "floating" down there, almost entirely held in place by the suspension and the sway bar. I had about 2" of movement up & down on the rear end and it was creating a lot of stress on those components.

We noticed this when getting ready to install a new set of custom subframe bushings (aluminum with rubber inserts). =(

I'm having the subframe dropped and welded with reinforced steel to strengthen it up. Should be good to go on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I'm missing a track day this Sunday. Better safe than sorry. My wife might let me drive her Jetta just to keep getting some seat time.

they are both very equal....i used the pro comp bfgs which is the old style tread pattern and they are better

Do you guys know where I can get these? I've checked tires.com and tirerack.com but their selection of drag radials is a bit limited. Also, I'm having difficulty finding them for 255x40/17. I might need to get bigger rear wheels (I was buying a separate set of Gram Light 57Max anyways), so maybe now is the time to buy some bigger wheels back there for drag purposes.

Since I'm definitely a drag racing novice any help there is appreciated on size / offsets.

15in rim has more sidewall flex on launch.. this mean your can run a couple more pounds of air pressure (to help mph), yet the sidewall will "wrinkle" and hook.

Personally I like bfg and hoosiers. I've run nitto, m/t (o.k.), and all sorts of street tires, but hoosiers are by far the best.

I doubt your going to be able to hook 500wtq + on a 255... look into a 275 at least.

I think you're totally spot on with the 255. One thing to consider is clearance on the rear brakes. Right now I have factory rear calipers and aftermarket rotors and pads, but I was going to upgrade those to match the Skyline fronts. I think clearance is typically less of an issue in the rear, but 15" is pretty darn small for wheel size. Maybe 16" with big fat Hoosiers. I have heard nothing but good stuff about them.

maybe maybe maybe.....jesus chist your gonna maybe this car to death....just buy som big sticky tires for fuck sake
