Whattup forums ppl, the name is Herby and im a soon to be 240 owner. I used to own a neon SRT-4 and its an awesome friggin' car, but it cant go sideways. Since i cant afford a 3rd gen supra ima be buying a S13 to play with it and if i do like it and get used to it i might just do a inline 6 turbo swap on it (2jz, RB25, ?!?)..etc.
Im no newbie when it comes to modifying cars or whatnot but 240's have a huge variety of "ways" to go as far as modding goes, thats why im here. can i make an 11 second street 240 go sideways, looking good without blowing an engine every month like i hear SR20's are notorious for? and im also here to do some research, meet some locals and do some business/trades.

He drove a SRT-4 that was "an awesome friggin' car" but couldn't go sideways....

That should explain everything ;)
 
for sure man, ka's are bad ass turboed. i think the reason a lot of people dont talk about it that much is cuz you dont know about doing it till you actually get into the 240 scene, whereas sr20's are all over everything.

if u wanna drift why even bother with a turbo motor untill the power of ur stock ka is holding u back.. the only thing power does when ur drifting is throw out white smoke.. i ran tandem with a mildly built sr car and could keep up with him fine.. he was just putting out more smoke and destroying more tires.. motor swaps are pointless for entry level drift cars.. shocks/ spring (coilover if u have money) welded diff (for track only) and extra wheels and tires are all u need.

i know what you mean D4L but l also am looking for some tq for straight roads, i definitely made up my mind on going with a 2jz swap (even though its probably dramatically heavier). but in the meantime im going to stick with a stock KA.

anyways i just came to say whassup, im on this forum for info, "how to's" etc... i do know how to use a forums and search shit so dont worry about me making "how do i install an intake?" threads and other dumb shit like that. As far as participating and off topic..i got other forums for that.
 
Nope.. Never been smoked by a Neon... and why do that all sound like John Deere tractors when they put those "dual" exhausts on it?

The KA24DE has a bunch of torque.. and going from FWD to RWD, the torque does different things when your driving...

My KA is NA and I can go sideways at will, after driving it for 11 years now, I have never felt the need for a turbo, I can put a smile on my face every time I slide into the driver's seat...

mike's comment wasn't ignorant. he gave you information.
in your other comment you are the one who sounds ignorant. you can't come to the conclusion that he got smoked by a neon based on what he said. seems to me like you're being hypocritical.

a neon is a neon no matter how much power it makes. and whether he got smoked or not, he gets to drive home in one of the best rwd 4 cylinders ever made, you get to drive home in a dodge neon.

SR20's aren't notorious for blowing 'every month' if you treat them well, just like any other engine really. You CAN make an 11 second street 240sx that also can go sideways.. Hopefully I will..

Nice SRT-4 by the way. I was lookin' into them before I got hooked on the 240s. Welcome.
