Hey everyone, I'm not too extremely familiar with the sr20det ecu's yet since I am coming from DSMs. My question is that are there any companys that make some type of pocketlogging software for a palm device that will hookup to the diag port to monitor injector duty cycle, water temp, etc for these ecu's? Eventually I plan on moving up to an aem ecu but for now I would like to monitor the vehicle.

Im not too familiar with PDAs but if you can get one that runs a normal version of windows that you could run nissan datascan off of and has a usb port I dont see any reason you couldnt run a usb consult cable to the pda and datalog with it. I suggest getting nistune on your stock ecu isntead of going standalone as well. Less headache, less money and just as good if not better in my opinion.

is nistune something I can install into my ecu on my own, or will I have to send the ecu in to them for the daughterboard to be installed?

that depends on how good you are at soldering electronics. I like to send mine to either the nistune people, or AAAhiperformance in texas (they are the only US nistune dealer) or you can have anyone at a electronics repair shop do it (like a tv repair shop.) Then you need the program and a consult cable and a lap top and a wideband and I recommend a knock light as well becaue detenation is hard to hear with loud ass cars anyways but you need all that shit for tuning anyways, not just with nistune.

As for nissan datascan though, you dont need anything soldered on your ecu and it will work with a stock ecu or a nistune boarded ecu.

ok, sounds good thanks a lot. It sounds like that the nistune setup will probably be a little more expandable than the enthalpy is going to be. I originally was looking into the enthalpy, but the nistune definitely seems like it is more like my dsmlink program that I used to run in my eclipse.

Im kinda disappointed after having someone send me the bin file to a enthaply tune. Its so basic I cant believe people pay for it. I have seen better tunes sold on chips on ebay and Im not kidding, just maybe not as safe as the enthaply tune.

Kinda on topic to what your askind as well, I paid about 300 for my laptop and it was a used refurbished one. Its not bad expecially for the deal I got, but today at a store I seen tiny laptops with 7" screens and slightly smaller buttons for around 300 one was way cheaper but didnt come with much memory ect. The $300 ones had a decent hard drive and ran windows xp. The hard drives were actually solid memory types so no disk to get scratched/crashed when hitting bumps, very nice. They had like 5 usb ports and internal wifi cards built in. The ram was expandable by simply sticking in a fucken SD card! 4 gb sd card ftw!!! Battery life was extimated at 3.5 hours and it was small enough to fit in the glove box. Im so going to see about selling off my laptop maybe in order to get one of these bad boys! The only big consirn is they have no disk drives so you would have to use usb drives but I can deal with that because I have one.

The only issue with those eepc's are that they don't run a full blown version of xp on certain ones. xp is installable on them, but you have to get a bigger flash memory to do so, otherwise some of the tuning software won't always work.

my nistune software isnt taxing on the system at all and Im running it on a under powered system but that is a valid consirn. The laptop I was looking at said it was windows xp home edition and didnt say anything about it being like a ce version but I may have not read the fine print and it also beat out my laptop in hardware performance in every aspect by about 50% or more. I would have to take a closer look though before getting one but I feel that the one I looked at would be ok. I believe it was an acer and it was for sale at electronic express.

yea pretty much any super basic computer can run the tuning software most companys provide, I used to run my DSMlink on a laptop that could barely run windows xp, and it ran flawlessly
