Ive looked every where but all there seems to be is talking about not having ac or just that it looks cool. But im doing the three gauge intstall and replacing the center ac vents. I have auto meter pro comp ultra lite's, oil pressure, volts and, water temp. Heres my questions.

1. how do i remove the vents.
2. how do i block off the air, as i still have ac.
3. Is there a prexsisting hole in the firewall with a grommet. If not wheres the best place to drill.

Thanks,

IF this is a repost then sorry.

1. The vents pretty much just pop out of the dash if you pry from the sides. When I took mine out to install the gauges I ended up cracking the shit out them. I wanted to go back to stock so I went to the junkyard to get a second vent. It took me two cars to get it out without cracking. It just takes time and patience.

2. You should just block off where the duct dumps out behind the gauges. When you take the vent out you will be left with a rectangular box/duct. For my setup I redirected the air to the center of my pod because it had vents to uptain a/c. I build little walls out of cardboard and tape that go from the center of the pod back to the duct. You can just block the hole rectangular vent off. Just remember to use something that can upstand heat if you still use it. My tape is hold up pretty good, but its started to peel from using the heat more often in the winter. Check out my sweet paint drawing.

3. You can just run the lines through the firewall where the harness goes through on the passenger side up behind the glove box. I found it alot easier to feed it through from the engine bay and pull it down through the dash. Taking the glove box out will make it easie, but you can reach up in there and just pull the wire down (assuming the gauges are elec.).

Yeah it wasn't to hard to do either. I just got two pieces of carboard, one for each side, and cut them to fit. Then I used duct tape to seal up the edges around the sides and top. I really didn't intend to get a good seal because as long as a majority of the air flow was directed out through the middle, small leaks wouldn't matter. It ended up being a nice seal so I went back and painted the duct tape black to blend in better behind the vent.

Thanks i was thinkin i was gonna have to take my dash out. BTW, yea there electric.
Nice paint drawing too!

Haha thanks I only have photoshop on my mac, but here at work I got to test out my paint skill from back in the day. Good luck man just remember to use something that will insulate the heat and not melt off in the winter under high temperatures.
