i tried to push the handle but nothing happens. is this common? cause i tried searching the forums and found nothing. i heard of something that they lock but thats it.
Help i cant open my gas cap!

try pulling the cable from inside the hatch/trunk
or try hitting the gas cap on the "hinge side"
or try hitting the gas cap on the "hinge side"

Same thing happens to me when its cold out. Just have a friendly helper push the handle down while you pry the door open. Just be careful not to break your key in half.

this has happened to me before, and yes there is a tab on the inside of the trunk [you need to take out the trunk lining on the gas tank door side in order to reach it]

well depending on what happened [i.e. the cable was pinched or snapped] you have to replace the cable, or fix whatever pinched it
that or the latching mechanism broke somehow, but that is attached to the cable assembly

no actually it operates off of one cable, so the fact that your trunk still works tells me that the cable itself is fine, which means that A) the cable is mis-adjusted in the push direction causing the gas door to not open or B) the gas door release mechanism is broken
either way at this point you need to pop out the trunk panels and get at it manually
