I am not sure if it was a supra swap or not but damn, I about shit my pants when I grabbed 3rd and she stepped out, I had to back out and then he told me stand back in it, so I commenced to burn the tires all the way to 4th.
If that's the case, please tell me that if you get it you're going to invest in some drag radials and possibly some suspension work as well. Not only is that pointless (and is only cool the first handful of times, until you get smoked by a much slower car because he hooked up) but it's also dangerous to the cars around you if you're still blowing the tires off in 3rd.

The trunk I was buying had a dent in it so he refunded my money, now it's just the shortblock that's on the way.

I really wanted the car but this fucking economy is working against me. They won't give me a $4500 loan for the car, not to mention the fact that I would have to get suspension, tires and probably some way to lower the boost so it would be civilized on the street. He has a boost controller on it but I didn't look to see where it was set at, and I could see where he started running out of cash for the mods, the damn exhuast wasn't mandrel bent.:nono I swear to god it had to have a GT40 or bigger on it, and I was afraid to watch 2 guages.... Boost and fuel. :D Not to mention with a toyota I don't have a clue what it takes to make a car that fast, nor do I know what to look for.

I wonder if he will still have it after boot-camp...

So it was a single turbo car? If it was, the lowest the boost will go is whatever the wastegate spring is rated at. If that's still too high you can always get a smaller spring.

It doesn't take a whole lot to light up shitty street tires with a 2jz, my old setup (stock longblock, 11 psi) would spin through the top of 4th (around 120-125) on the stock 205/50/15 tires and I have a relatively tame turbo. That was also before I got the LSD rear end.

Plus, once you have a fast car you'll probably learn to be a bit more civilized with it also around town. I could put those shitty 205/50/15's back on my car if I needed to and be just fine to drive it, knowing that with the power it makes I'd have to drive responsibly.

Or maybe it's because I recently turned 24 and I'm just getting too old to drive around town at wide open throttle tires screaming all the time. :p

tsk tsk tsk.. money for a turbo, but not a decent mandrel bent exhaust? :nono he would probably have an extra 10-15hp there.

This is why i want to go suspension before turbo. no use having XXX amount of power if you cant put it down effectively.

Good thing i invested so much in my exhaust :)tears) SO that when i do go turbo, i dont have to change a thing. My next engine related plan of action is the SAFC, then maybe 3 gauges: A/F, Oil pressure, and EGT. After that im dont with the engine till i can overhaul the suspension.

Yea it was a single turbo, looked bigger than the one in your sig, considerably. IIRC he had like a 245 on the rear and they weren't junk, Goodyear Eagle RS-A's. And I wasn't sure if he had an lsd or a welded diff but it left 2 beautiful black marks off the line.

I know, right, dumped a ton for a Garrett BB turbo, he had a set of drop springs on it, eibach's, and kyb's (I think).I wanna go look at it again, but if I do I will start selling stuff to buy it. :(

Probably was considerably bigger, my 67mm is pretty small in the 2jz world. As far as the tires go, I had a nice set of Yokohama ES1000's in a 245 on the back of my car back when it was NA, and it would spin from a first gear punch even as anemic as an NA SC300 tends to be.

And for what it's worth, stock suspension actually puts power down better than it would with those lowering springs. :p

Looks like I found my next exhaust, just working out payment stuff on it. I'll post up a picture once I know for sure I'm getting it.

We're getting pretty good at this, barely over an hour and a half to pull the drivetrain out. The car's been parked outside since November so excuse how dirty it is. We saved a *ton* of time by taking it out with the turbo kit intact. It still came out quickly and smoothly but not having to take the turbo off, the oil lines off, and then the manifold off made this happen so much quicker.

Into the garage, ready to go.
Image

Hood taken off, intake manifold/throttle body taken off earlier in the day so we can get to work.

Wiring harness removed. The blue tape signifies plugs that are no longer in use and will be cut out of the harness since wiring is heavier than one might think. The only exception is the fuel injector wiring in which case the blue tape has the number of the injector written on it.
Image

Well that was quick, motor and tranny ready to come out.

Sitting on the ground, hopefully the shortblock arrives tomorrow and we can swap the head and manifolds over.

Empty bay, will be getting cleaned up again like last time.
Image

Finished up a few minutes before midnight so we called it good there, just thought I'd snap a few pics along the way for you guys.

Okay, now that I've actually sent money on it I'll go ahead and show off my new exhaust. :D WOTM 4" midpipe and 4" catback, same that Ryan Woon used to use on his quicksilver car before going open downpipe.

It'll be loud but good, and at least the noise will be coming out of the back of the car rather than open downpipe like I am right now, plus it's going to look pretty vicious. I will eventually move to a 4" downpipe as well.

Lookin good. Glad you pulled the trigger on the bish.

All you need is the shortblock + AEM, no?

Hopefully you'll have it done my TX2k9 :) would be pretty funny seeing you on the next DVD. i'll be like HOLY CHOCOLATE SHIT I KNOW THAT GUY!

The shortblock and exhaust are the only two absolutes for taking it to TX2K9. I said I'd drive it down still on MAP ECU but with full exhaust before I drove it down on AEM and open downpipe. :p But I'm hoping I'll be able to swing both of them.

All I got done yesterday was putting my taillights in, I had a busy day not involving the car. It was getting dark but here's a crappy comparison pic.

Right on Jon. I'll be getting some HID's soon too, just sent money for these headlights off ClubLexus. A guy took some of those Ebay lights and put the clear lens on his factory lights, so he had the Ebay housings plus his stock lenses for sale for cheap. Looks interesting, I'll clean the lenses up some more and I think it'll look good.

Ahh i saw those for sale. Forgot who was selling them, but the deal was really good. glad you pulled the trigger on it. All you need is some silicone sealant and you're set.

Gunnar, you are always buying something huh? :p Must be ballin out of control :)

Ugh, XenonDepot said it should be shipped this week via AIR, but it hasnt updated yet. Guess i should wait until tomrw before i start harassing.

Engine came today. Was expecting a shortblock, walked in and found a longblock waiting for me. Posed a little bit of an issue as I was just going to transport it in the back of my Camaro, but we made due:

Low miles and came with the plastic covers and everything, didn't dig into it tonight.

Rather, dug into the wiring. Took out the plugs that aren't going to be used anymore, and also took off the big plastic covers, and taped everything up all nice and neat. There weren't that many plugs eliminated so the weight loss isn't super drastic, but it's going to clean things up a lot as well.

Probably start on the motor stuff tomorrow.

Haha, Damn those projectors look good. I just picked up some projector driving lights, among other stuff off ebay to play with. :thumbsup

The engine in the camaro, reminds me of the trans in the 240.

And the hatch still shut. :D
