Couple more pics. Here's my new 4" WOTM downpipe next to my old 3" XS Power downpipe.

And here's where we're sitting as of tonight, we really don't have much work left to put it back in the car (put the head on and torque it down, and put the transmission on)

Even the oil filter housing is giving the new setup a thumbs up.

Cant wait till its up and running. Car is going to be epic, son. :)

I found someone, guy who works at the other autozone i frequent (i worked at two different ones this one is round the corner from my house) who does wiring... and is willing to install my SAFC. He has one on his Civic (Pretty serious N/A car) and i believe does tuning as well. havent made any arrangements yet, but hopefully i can pay using beer. Im going to try a 30pack of coors and $30. Beer goes a long way :)

Car was acting weird this morning... i was chilling in traffic, when i heard a popop (typical exhaust pop) and my idle shot up to ~1700. Now keep in mind that my tach is off by about ~250rpm (ie. the needle can be at 0 and the car is still running, albeit its chugging, so id assume it's around 200-250rpm. Anyways i usually get a idle of about 500-650, and i was getting this for a sizable duration of my trip. As i said before my idle SHOT up to 1500-1700 and stayed there. when i revved it did it like normal, and smoothly stopped at 1500rpm, as if my idle was there the whole time. I pulled over and decided to do a test. I turned the car off, and restarted it. Idle was normal (500-650) but the moment i revved it it stopped at 1500. All the other signs were good: coolant temp, oil pressure/level, and i recently filled up with gas.

I rolled with it until i got to school. Just before i got to the parking garage.... as quickly as it came, it completely disappeared, and idled like nothing happened. I revved, it fell back to normal.

Weird.

I don't know about epic, but it should at least be fun.

Might check over your motor to make sure you don't have any intake leaks. Getting a little unmetered air in can make it idle high. Might even take some brake clean and spray it everywhere you'd have a gasket to see if the car revs up, if so then you've got a leak there.

It's been ok since it went down earlier. I drove around a bunch today, and it hasnt come up. It seems to be idling around its normal range. I even had the car idle for about 45min while i was cleaning the inside of my car, and it didnt move (with the exception of a few little idle surges, nothing out of the ordinary) I'll see tomrw after it's been sitting for a while.

I'll try that out G :)

Got the ARP main studs installed, and the head on and torqued down. We didn't have any RTV to put the oil pans back on yet, but she's getting real close. It just dumped a ton of show and my Camaro doesn't feel like going anywhere otherwise I'd venture to say we could probably even have it running today. Damn weather.

Hung the downpipe off the turbo just to see, and jesus it looks massive.

:)

- Came from my friends house this morning where he did a pressure test of the cooling sys. He started it at ~18psi and we waitied about 10 min and it fell to ~15 (that showed that i have a leak somewhere!) Since it wasnt holding pressure. At first we didnt see anything, so he thought it may be internal. I showed him the dipstick, dipstick was the normal oil color as was the coolant.

After a while we saw slight coolant buildup (looked moist, but not enough to pool) on the left, bottom side of the radiator tray (under the rad, that little lip that catches coolant) which was on the opposite side of the rad cap, so it wasnt coolant from when he popped the cap. Also we noted the back of my rad is completely fucked. As i said to many people, its really corroded/rusted/bent fins/missing fins.

I told him that when it almost overheated the cooling system NEVER retrieved coolant from the overflow tank, nor did any boil out. My coolant in that tank hasnt changed since this all began, so i suspect something isint right. I recently got a rad cap from autozone, but i fear maybe that could be bad? Cause if the cap was good, wouldn't coolant be pulled from that tank when the car started to overheat?

Anyways when i started it up he noted that there was no puff or release of white smoke at all after the test, which was a relief to me. I guess since the test pressurizes the system, any coolant will make its way to the HG if that was the problem.

So as of now, i need to source a new radiator/cap.

I think its both.

I did a little test today, i ran teh car like normal to work, and as soon as i got there (~8mi) i turned the car off and popped the hood. And i listened. I heard a hissssssssssssss sound coming directly from the rad cap. I did this again when i got come a few mins ago. Same thing a hissss/bubble sound coming directly from the cap. So the cap is definately not holding pressure, and also the rad looks slightly moist from the rear, where the fucked up fins are.

Supra koyo racing rad + efans? :)

Hmm

Thinking of Mishimoto Alum Rad and keeping the stock fan for now. Me and wiring dont mix, and i can use the stock shorud.

The koyo/fluidyne is way out of my budget lol :)

The mishi is $240 and it seems to be a good brand:
Mishimoto Radiator and Hose Kit Review

Cost effective, more efficient, and quality build are the words that best describe the Mishimoto radiator. Lighter then stock, this radiator is great replacement to the stock unit and provides a greater cooling efficiency. Paired with a black finished silicone hose kit, this radiator makes a great addition for those looking for a stock replacement.

I have been using this radiator since June '07 now. In the dead middle of summer it keeps my temp gauge below straight up on the stock gauge. On my logger it shows the coolant temp at 195. Rock steady.

I have nothing but good things to say about this radiator. After a almost a year of use there are no leaks and the finish still looks like day 1. I recommend this radiator to you if you are on a budget and cannot afford their competition.

Thats all i need for now. Im not racing/tracking the thing, and i wont need a serious BIZZZZNESS rad unless i go turbo+. Shit if its good enough for a big turbo EVOX/IX its good enough for a I/H/E SC. lol :)

Believe it or not Jon, the stock fan outflows anything you could put on it e-fan wise, which is why if you peek under the engine bay of some of the faster Supras (Woon, Saad, etc.) they still have a stock fan and stock shroud on it. The efans just make it look better and reduce a little bit of rotational mass off the accessories. You should be perfectly fine with a nice aluminum radiator like I suggested in text and the stock fan.

My heap is just about ready. Got the oil pans on, pickup tube/windage tray bolted down, and got the timing all set and the front covers on. Just need to put the crank pulley on and figure out what size belt we need (using the stock balancer this time around since my Unorthodox doesn't have timing marks on it, thus a different belt size is needed) and bolting the transmission on and she'll be ready to go back in the engine bay.

I remember reading that on SF somewhere, that the stock fan is just totally fucking awesome/efficient. i hope that it doesnt overcool the motor LOL.

So im going to probably place this order within a day or two. Ive been driving like a grandma (under 3.5k) lately. As long as i drive like that, my coolant loss goes down LOL.

Sweet, so the fan on the SC is good. Hmm, too bad that my E-fans work better than my stocker did on teh ole KA.

Mishimoto. :thumbsup

4" exhaust. :thumbsup

Thats on the KA. The SC/Supra stock fan is very effecient for a belt/engine driven fan. Its freaking huge, and has a equally huge shroud on it that covers the entire radiator. As gunnar said, its used on 8-9sec supras, so it has to be tits :)

No new updates as I'd hoped. We went down about an hour south of town to tune someone's Trans Am early Saturday afternoon and it took much longer than anticipated, then on the way back the Civic we were driving snapped an axle. So not only did we not even touch my car, but tonight will be spent on my friend's car getting a new axle in it too. Things are so close though that I'm not nervous about getting it done soon.

2 1/2 weeks til we depart for TX2K9. :D
