I was just trying to decide which blow off valve I want to purchase for my RB25DET. I was thinking about getting the HSK SSQV, but after hearing it, i am def not a fan at all. So I am now thinking about the Blitz BOV, I love the sound of it. What BOV are you guys running? If you can, can you describe which sound it makes? lol I want a badass BOV that will work good...lol Thanks in advance...

P.S. Are all BOV's vehicle specific, or are they all universal? Do i have to buy one that hays its for an RB25DET?

P.S. I am running the Greddy intake manifold/,atching intercooler

Blow off valves are universal. You'll need to do light fab work to make it fit with your piping. If you are running MAF then you'll want to recirculate it or your vehicle will probably stall. If you recirculate it then you will not hear the noise it makes much at all. If you have the proper engine management software and sensors you can run MAP instead, which will work better with a bov vented to atmosphere. I have an HKS SSQV and it does the job just fine and has a very noticeable but subtle sound. It does not get annoying or old, which is key for me. You can get different inserts for the bov that will modify the sound. I saw a clip on youtube a year ago that demonstrated the different sounds. Some of them had a nice chirp.

Good luck.

I don't have a RB25.
I've got a Tial Q BOV on my Silverado
I'm thinking about getting a couple Turbo XS RFLs for my WS.6

Here is a link to You Tube where a Subaru driver is comparing the Tial Q to a RFL. If you want to know what sounds good go search on You Tube.

What kind of fab work is going to need to be done?
Depending on your IC piping you're going to possibly need to cut a hole and/or weld a flange on to the piping for the BOV to attach to. If you a recirculating need to route a return line from the BOV back to an earlier segment of the intake. You would also need to route a vacuum line, but that's not part of fab work.

I was running KA-T with an HKS ssqv and the silver insert it came with sounded awesome but was too loud for constant boosting during daily driving, so I took off the insert and it sounded amazing.

I now went the rb25 route and I'm supposed to get my car back any day now.
I guarantee its one of the best sounds you can get from a blow off valve, ESPECIALLY coming from an rb

i definently like the sound of a hks ssqv. i dont have one but a few of my friends do and they sound so sweet when im driving next to them haha

A lot of kids and new turbo guys go with the HKS for maximum noise (No offense to anyone, just the statistics, I used to operate a speed shop). The HKS seals well but it does not flow that great. If you want to make the HKS quiet, take the vanes (the plastic colored insert) out altogether. The HKS is basically a pull-type BOV (good) with a small diameter outlet (bad) with a WHISTLE in the port.
Most of the other jap valves just have different sounds. The GReddy R is not bad but lazy to open.
The TiAl is made in USA. It is engineered for serious cars. It is engineered to work right every time with max flow and minimum fuss. I personally like the sound of it; it isn't quiet, gimicky or annoying. It doesn't recirc.
If the primary question you have about a BOV is sound, then just get whatever you like. The rest isn't going to make a difference to you. Otherwise, the stock one works decently and is free.
