The car: 1993 240sx SE with a KA

The problem: Loss of power; knocking sound between 2000-3500 rpm (I'm told, thinking, and hoping its a valve issue) I know it's not a rod bearing. Had the oil pan off and everything is tight. Plus, I've put 3 to 4 thousand miles on this car with the knocking sound. Never got worse. Performance hasn't changed since the problem started.

The plan: My friend has a head he's selling me pretty cheap. If it's a valve getting stuck, or the tappet, I want to replace the whole head and do the dual exhaust cam setup while I'm at it.

The questions: What all should I need for this as far as parts go? This is what I'm thinking... if I don't need any of this, let me know as well.

1. Head Gasket
2. Valve Cover Gasket (Mine is twisted and leaks just a little)
3. Exhaust manifold gasket (Yes? No?)
4. Intake manifold gasket (Yes? No?)
5. Head Bolts (Have stock ones now. You can't reuse them, right?)
6. Assembly Lube
7. Oil
8. Coolant
(I'm sure I missed something.)

Thanks in advance

you can reuse the stock ones however it is highly recommended to get new ones
6. Assembly Lube
WHAt?
7. Oil
a must
8. Coolant
a must

make sure the new head is complete.
make sure you read up about the exhuast cam, i believe you need to advance the timing after doing that mod
make sure you dont fuck up the threading on the valve cover bolts/head bolts when removing them

good fucking luck

Lube for the cams. Said so on a write-up I read. Anyways. Yeah, the intake side has to be set back 3 on the timing I believe. Felpro HG and VCG or whatever the oem autozone replacements are. I'll get a cometic HG when I get to boosting the ka. I'll let you know how it goes.

yeah dont ever re-use bolts for stuff that has to be precise bolts stretch and then you cant achieve proper torque......look up the bolt tightening sequence usually starts in the middle and works out in a circular pattern and check the torque spec
