Driving home today I stopped at many lights and at some of them the car wouldn't go into gear. No matter what I did. Do you think it might be low tranny fluid or bad tranny fluid?

BTW it's a 5speed, S13, with 180K.

Hmm... I'm with 240kid on this, unbolt the slave cylinder and check the fork for freemovement (i.e. snapped pivot head)

Some other causes could be: clutch sticking on input shaft (lack of grease) or broken spring(s) on the pressure plate

Alright I'll do some reading up tonight on all those things you guys are talking about and check all of it in the morning. I figured it might just be maybe the tranny fluid or something, I had no idea it might be this extensive. haha.

Thanks again for the advice, I know for a fact that it would have been a nightmare to trouble shoot on my own with no prior knowedge.

Has/Had the trans been leaking fluid? or has it been scrubing syncro's prior?

How long has it been since a clutch change? (just hoping the P.P. bolts havent worked loose"fingers crossed")

Just tring to rule some things out... but it deff. sounds like a clutch issue... Might want to pull the fork boot out while your at it, for a better look around...

Go ahead and check the fluid level and rule that out...

*Have a friend spin the engine over w/breaker bar and check the leaves/springs on the P.P.(look for either defourmed or broken leaves)

*Check the pivot in the channel of the fork and the "ears" on the through out/release bearing for defourmation and broken areas...

*Make sure there isn't a gap around the trans to engine mounting area(i.e. if it's pulled apart, it isn't going to disengage the clutch fully)

Is this your only vehicle?

If not I'd put it up on all 4 jack stands, drop the trans and get a closer inspection of things that dont look right...
No it's not my only vehicle so I suppose I can drop the tranny and see what the deal is. I'll be sure to do all those things soon enough. It almost seems that when the car gets warm and I have been driving it for a while that it does this. And yes when I go to shift sometimes I do grind a gear. But it's weird because the clutch seems fine. Whenever I am in say "3rd" gear and put in the clutch, rev the engine and drop it the car still pulls hard so I couldn't imagine it being the clutch.

Thanks again for laying it out for me man. I know nothing about transmissions so all of this info helps a lot.

same thing happened to me. on mine the clutch disc springs were all broke, disc was cracked and worn to shit. and pressure plate had a crack/worn out. i will bet that is what it is judging that it has the same symptoms. i say pull that tranny and you will find the problem.
