tryed searching, but found no answer.
i have a rb25det s1 in a s14. (have to put up my swap pics one day, but to lazy and have alot of pics).
does anyone else hear a knocking/rattle can sound in 5th gear at low rpm? around 33mph to 37mph in 5th gear. the sound only rattles from light to mid throttle in 5th at around 33-37mph. this rattling happens at any pitch of the car, going up a hill or down hill or on a flat. no other rattling in all other gears and all rpm range. strange. i have set idle 675rpm and timing to 15*. this motor had all it's gaskets, seals, plugs, pumps, and timing belt changed. made sure the timing marks lined up on the motor. the motor has a adj fuel pressure reg. it's set to 40 at the moment.
temps 158* at idle. 194* after running around town.
im thinking it could be because the states have 92oct. and japan has a higher oct that would cause the rattle. idk.
reason im asking is i like to coast in 5th gear to save gas. (yes yes, adding a rb already eats gas.)
so im wondering if anyone else has the same problem.
