I did the Q45 brake upgrade this weekend, I also replace the lines with some stainless steel lines and got my rotors and pads from 88rotors. Let me first start off by saying wow....what a difference in braking distance and feel. It feels like a totally different car now when I brake.

My only question I have is with the front wheels off the ground, if you spin either tire you can hear a slight rubbing sound. It seems like the pads are constantly touching the rotor. But only slightly because I can't feel it while driving. Has anybody else experienced this when doing this swap? Have any ideas on what it is, what I can do to fix it? Or is this just normal and it will go away after a some mileage has been put on the pads and they wear down a little bit?

Because the pads and rotors are new you'll notice that scrapping noise more but it'll eventually go away. And yes it's normal. It helps keep dirt and water from getting between the only 2 things that are gonna stop you...

Nope. I completely removed the dust shields. I think it was more my mind playing tricks on me. There is a slight rub but I think it is just normal. The brakes are a definate improvement, like night and day especially since my old rotors were warped.

The only crappy part is I ended getting rebuild calipers and didn't have time to paint them. Walked out to my car this morning after a very hard day of raining to see that my calipers have become almost all orange from rust. It sucks now I have to take them off to paint them this weekend when I do my coilovers.

im planning on doin this upgrade in 2 weeks. and i was wondering if you have any issues with the clearance of the caliper on the stock 15" rims? also, did you use the stock caliper bracket for the 240sx or for the q45? thanx

Because the Q45's use the same Sliding caliper design, it has just as much clearance if not very close to what your stock brakes do. And you use the stock Bracket I believe.

thanx bro. i just ordered a set of q45 rotors with the redrilled bolt pattern 4x114.3 for the 240sx from www.88rotors.com ....does anyone know of a good place to buy performance brake pads for the q45 front and 240 rear, so i can have the same company. i found a set on ebay with cbrakemaster for

i got a question about the dust shield? how hard was it to remove. i looked at a diaphram on alldata.com (at school) and it looked like the dust shield is also shielding the wheel bearing as well. would it not be better to maybe just bend the shield back, or even cut the top off, so the rotors wont touch. anyway, please get back at me soon. i got the rotors and pads already, and gonna order the calipers this friday and hopefully have everything installed by the end of the weekend. anyway. get back at me thanx.
